    After vowing to never play Dark Souls again, a vow that lasted a little over a month, I decided to return to the glitchy and ganking world known as Forest PvP. In the time that I was away I started to play Monster Hunter Unite again and got up to High rank quests. With any game I play I usually look for bad ideas made by the game creators, DrkS and MH are not exceptions but we already know what DrkS's bad ideas are; DWGR, TWoP, H ring, ect. So why not share what any game's bad idea(item,enemy, level layout,ect.) is and the reason?

    Monster Hunter (all games):Knock out status effect
    Completely annoying from the fact that it's caused by being hit repeatedly by an enemy and causes you to be unable to move for a couple of seconds. When it does happen you're usually left with very little health and you will probably get killed by the monster you're fighting before you get rid of the effect.

    A N64 Controller. *** that controller. Only one that gave me blisters, and I got about 6. Nightmare.

    Putting Movie formulas within the games, the BAD movie formulas... Uncharted was a good one, but others are blarg.

    Commercialism in Games. Homefront comes to mind, piece of ****.

    blarg.

    Black guy dying first, or now the douchy sports guy.

    Characters that are cliche as hell

    A powerful gun that can't kill someone in one shot... the Barret comes to mind. That, and can fire while standing with no support :suspect:

    Having armour that does jack ****. Gears of War. Just go nude, and be faster.

    Sports games in general. Bad idea in general. Go outside and do it, make some friends silly.

    Racing games that don't include a ramp to jump over others.

    I don't get how they did such a massive open world in FFXII and then in XIII got the impression it's fans preferred tunnel vision :|

    I finally got to the wild and was like "Holy crap that took forever to get someplace to explore." I played in there for a bit then thought "self, this is getting tedious, it's just find the next monster and beat it, I'll come back to this area later since I finally get to explore the next area will be good." Then I realized I was in No Choice Ville and that might have killed the series for me. I forgave Crisis Core for linearity because it's a different game mechanic entirely and the story is outstanding but XIII was a piece of garbage. I had spent two weeks farming a Pure Bladestone (nothing else just this) prior to playing XIII and the Bladestone farming was slightly less mind numbing as it turned out.

    Games that give you unrealistic expectations. Lately I've been playing Deus Ex Human Revolution and I feel kinda let down that there's such a gigantic city and you can only explore a couple blocks of it.

    Games with an ultimate weapon in which it's acquired right before the last boss fight or somewhere in that vicinity. I want to try it on the level one slime or whatever they hell creatures are in the beginning of the game. Why are you making it a pain to god stab slimes?

    not really a huge issue but:

    when playing a game like skyrim or RDR when your 3rd person camera looks up during the rain and gets droplets on it (droplets on the lens). that effect is cool for games that have a "televised" feel to them ala Gran Turismo style. but Skyrim and RDR are "mostly" pre-camera tech, do i suddenly have a camera dude following along on my adventure through Skyrim?

    or like in Dragon Age O where the enchanter is RIGHT outside the big bad dudes lair. "gee I wonder if theres something of intrest back there"

    Don't get me started on Dragon Age Origins. One of a select few games I decided was not worth the trouble of finishing.

    Realism. Why would I play a shooter if I'm going to hide behind a wall and suck my thumb while my screen stops flashing red?! I'd rather run around like a madman and go apeshit on everyone!

    I love realism, but in games they often *** it up completely. I'd love a super realistic survival horror game, but I can't really think of one that has tried super realism that I like.

    I really just hate typical plots, and mary sue characters. I won't list off examples though, as people will get angry at me haha.

    Game developers who think that the only way to depict a mature male character is by making him look like he lives on steroids. As if that's not enough, they're usually depicted as mean ugly thugs like Kratos from God of War. I can't stand him. I got to the end of the first game and was halfway through the boss battle when I decided that I couldn't be bothered to finish it. I didn't want him to win because he didn't deserve to in my book.

    I hate that men in games as Slake said, are either giant lughead musclebound douches, or super feminine girly men with long hair and no facial hair, so feminine I think they are actually women and can't tell what gender characters are.

    Where is just the normal sized guy, with a mustache, maybe some short cut hair. He has some muscles, but a bit of a gut. Where is my every man!

    EDIT: It's like everyone either has massive balls of steel, so hairy they blot out the sun. Or they have they are castratos.

    I think this relates to tolvos post but,

    RPGs where:

    - the main character is a 15 year old angsty teenager
    - the main characters idilic village is destroyed by the bad guy right after you go run an errand outside of town
    - the main characters parents are DEAAAAAAAAAD! instead, his uncle and Aunt raise him
    - the uncle and aunt die in the sacking of the village.
    - you party up with the main characters love intrest and are subjected to god awful cut scenes until she dies or joins the bad guys
    - the only way to stop evil is with some sort of crystal or object or amulet
    - theres a bad guy who turns out to be a good guy (albeit a ****)
    - in an act of bravery, your favorite character sacrifices himself (and all the good weapons you gave him) to save you.
    - after you beat the final boss he comes back in not one, but TWO FINAL FORMS!
