I know some of you have been sad about the Aeris event in FF7, but what do you think are the saddest in the history of gaming.

Asura's wrath had 3 extremely heartbreaking moments in-game. Spoiler's ahead here:
    Spoiler:

What MAKES the moment so sad as well? For me it's the music plus the characters reactions.

Cloud- I'd edit "Spoilers Ahead" into the OP.

The end of Shadow of the Colossus. Just... wow. Being completely powerless to save yourself and the person you set out to save in the first place was crazy. The end of most Zelda games are a bit sad for me as well, but I can't really say why. As Jesse started to say in one of the TGS podcasts before Clint interrupted him, the part that really sticks with us (or me, at least), is the music. You'll remember the story, but it'll lose its shock and plot twists. You'll remember the gameplay, but it'll grow easier and lose its wonder over time. You'll remember the music, but you'll associate it with the very first time you played the game and everything you felt then. Zelda, Bastion, and SoTC all still do that for me, and I shed a single unmanly tear every time I hear Zelda's Lullaby or the title theme for Ocarina of Time.

What you had to do in the evil ending in Infamous 2, if any of you know what I'm talking about, then you know how freaking sad that was.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I found that whole game to be pretty beautiful in that respect.

Also going to have to go for the cheesy answer and say Aeris. First time I was ever moved by a video game.

I was really upset when little Miss Goody Twoshoes, Yuna, sent Auron at the end of FFX and he disappeared in a cloud of bubbles. I really loved that guy.

And I was devastated by what happened to Aggro near the end of Shadow of the Collossus. I stopped playing the game because of it. I couldn't care less what happened to the kid but Aggro, nooooo. I have nothing to do with horses in real life, I don't ride or anything but I really cared for that horse. I used to get off and walk to give him a rest, made sure that he got a drink and never galloped him for too long and then........................it's no use I don't want to think about it, it still upsets me.

Disagree. Clannad needed that death to make the series work.

Viral, Im not saying it's always the case, but a lot of the time in TV or other media, characters get killed off, just for the sake of causing more drama, theres no lasting effect or significant reason most of the time which is why death of characters in TV/anime can often be rather trivial.

I gotta portable out up for this topic. No reason for a spoiler since everyone played ffvii. Cloud's inspiration in most of Crisis Core is pretty sad. You know the game can't end well since it's a prequel but the concept of knowing your fate and the manner of the last battle pushed it over the top

I think the first kill in Shadow of the Colossus is pretty sad, as the coossus is completely neutral until you come along and murder it in cold blood.

I had the same thing with Supreme Commader and Spore. Watching friends play a game from release day onwards while you can only watch is pure hell.

If we're adding othe media, Saddest thing ever is how things happen with Amberlee in The Elfstones of Shannara

& why all the COD hate? Nothing wrong with enjoying good multiplayer FPS games, and COD is one of the better ones as far as multiplayer goes.
