Talisman and Catalyst Selection Guide

The scaling of talismans/catalysts can be confusing. So, here's the best Talisman and Catalyst per soul level. Some of it may be surprising.

Catalyst

• 10-11: Sorcerer's/Beatrice/Izalith
  
• 12-27: Oolacile
  
• 27-31: Sorcerer's/Beatrice/Izalith
  
• 32-50: Tin Crystalization
  
• 32-40: (secondary option, if you don't want your spells halved): Sorcerer's/Beatrice
  
• 41-50: Secondary again: Logan's

Talisman

• 10-26: Thorolund
  
• 27-39: Canvas
  
• 40+: Darkmoon
  

Velka's vs Tin Darkmoon

• Both start running into diminishing returns at 30 Int, or Faith
  
• Velka's adjust at 30 = 166, at 40 = 182, 50 = 199. That is 33 increase for 20 stat points.
  
• Tin Darkmoon's adjust at 30 = 191, 40 = 203, 50 = 217. That is 26 increase for 20 stat points.

You forgot to include Izalith Catalyst along with Sorcerer's and Beatrice's, but otherwise it seems correct to me

Maybe also have a bonus section for the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst and Velka's Talisman?

Good calls on both accounts. I skipped the Izzy cat because it has the same magic adjust as the Sorcerer's and Beatrice's. I'll include it.

Velkas vs Tin Darkmoon? I'll dig deeper and update the list.

Logan's is the best for 41+. If you only plan on using Logan's, don't go above 45.

Only catalyst that can go above 45 is the TCC, and anyone planning on using that one should stop at 50 Int max.

Interesting. Both weapons calculators (itsthatguy's and mugenmonkey.com) show Beatrice's and sorcerer's catalyst as besting Logan's until SL 48. I'll test it in real life, make a build and compare the magic adjusts per level.

Darkmoon talisman beats all other talismans at 40, doesn't it?

I'm getting 2 different magic adjust numbers with the stat calculators. I'll check the magic adjust in real life shortly and update this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

And yeah, I do not trust calculators at all when it comes to damage. I haven't checked mugen in a few days, and it's still a work in progress I think so it changes a lot, but last I checked the catalyst values were way off.

I got all those numbers by leveling Int 1 level at a time and checking every catalyst. So all those numbers are reliable! Post-patch, too. If there's any discrepancies at all, it would be in patch differences in different areas. But if all the patches are the same (they should be...) then my numbers are reliable.

OK, that's a bummer. You did your own IRL teting? Here, I went by a couple calculators, which apparently are wrong. Sorry for the misinformation guys. I'll bump BLA1NE's thread.

Yup, IRL testing.

48 sounds strange though... I vaguely remember that number floating around on forums pre-patch, like that was the Int you needed for Logan's to be worthwhile. So maybe their numbers are just outdated. But then again, maybe they were never actually tested to begin with either!

The talisman Mag Adj numbers might need checking (they do need checking if you got them from a calculator!), but the catalyst numbers you can take straight from my thread.

OK. I made a new Faith build, so I tested the Magic Adjust for each Talisman. I did this up to 40. After 40, the Darkmoon Talisman takes over every other talisman, so I didn't go further (plus my build stops at 40). I updated the first post. It is surprisingly easy, better than the Catalysts.
