Treat Your Fans With Respect Empty Treat Your Fans With Respect

Post by Samurainova Sat Mar 02, 2013 10:14 pm

Hey guys, i dont want to sound like whiner, but i feel that i just need to address this. Also, im not trying to bash or offend anybody, im just stating a personal experience and am wondering if anyone feels the same.

Okay, so, everyone knows theirs people who make videos, stream on twitch, post on youtube etc. , even on forums. In a way, these guys are kind of the inspirations to other players, because when your all alone in this dark land that is lordran you kind of look towards these people to help guide you. Unfortunately, when i encounter them in the game its just...they aren't very nice. Im not pointing any fingers, and im CERTAINLY not calling out all of them, but i feel like when i fight them they just dont take me seriously, and ill expain why.

So, a lot of the time i invade some of these people, they just dont show any respect, it's obvious in their play style. They dont bow, and they just strafe around teasing me. I dont know how to explain it thoroughly, but it just seems that they dont respect other players because you arent in their little league. And by league when i look at their friends list its always the same friends list with the same people, but i can tell why you know what i mean they ALL do twitch youtube etc...so its all good i respect that. But that doesnt really mean that just because you dont know me that i can be one of your EXPERIMENTS for your videos. And i mean like, they are trying this ridiculous stuff on me like im some noob, and when it doesnt work they just heal, and it breaks my heart. Some of the people i looked up to treated me like sh!t in battle, and it hurt my feelings. I tried messaging them about it but i was ignored... :/ This brings me to my next point.

Everyone in the game has a code, a philosophy if you will, more than likely you will have friends that share your same code or philosophy. But, i think players need to accept the fact that not everyone has the same self-made rules. Just because someone doesn't follow your philisophy does not mean you can go chugging divine blessings. This occurs with many of the same people i stated above. Its always got to be THEIR way or NO way, or else its hate mail city for you. Im not exactly sure why im posting this...but i just thought i should put this out their, its been going through my mind for a while. Again, i am NOT trying to start anything im sure their are plenty of video posters that are certainly not this way. I just wanted to address that their are some groups like this, and it breaks my heart. Hopefully this might serve as a realization t someo dark souls inpirations out their that you might be letting down your fans, and that everyone should be treated with respect, no matter who they are happy Thank you.

Also, i will set an example, but i will not say any names for that would break guidelines as well as my own code.

Ex. So im just doing random invasions, and guess what? Oh my god! It's my hero. So i spruce myself up to show this guy what i got. I put on my nice armor, and by that i mean these wierd sets of cloth and chainmail that for whatever reason some people like to wear..., pull out my respectable weapons and get ready to show him what i got, perhaps become his friend. I get my stuff together and i precede to meet this person. ( A little nervous) And when i approach him i wave. He foes nothing. I bow in order to show i am ready to fight. And he does not. All that occurs is a flurry of spinning, strafing, and at least 30 forces. It seems apparent he is trying to push me off the edge. I'm just like, ummmm, no sir, please, let us duel, i got all my stuff together to duel one of my heros. I am met with several teases, back stabs with a fist, and forces, as he continuosly tries to push me off the edge. It gets to the point where he is so tired of seeing me point down and bow that he pulls out a demon greataxe and hornet backstabs me. And then he points down and looks skyward. And i cant explain it but i just got this huge vibe that i just wasn't taken seriously because more or less...i am kind of a nobody :/ anyways feel free t comment, share experiences etc. etc. etc. you guys now how my posts go, and take care happy

I know the feel, bro. Certain uploaders/streamers don't take me seriously and seem to find ways to complain about things that the next guy wouldn't. What really makes me ticked is that it doesn't matter how many times I beat them or their friends, they never give me the respect I feel I deserve. Starting PvP nearly a year after the game was released makes it hard for me in the first place, but it sucks when I can't even be considered part of the community because of that. I got over it though, I find most of the "nobodies" are better to play with anyway.

Most of the streamers I have encountered have been very respectable to me, although there are a few who are just jerks. At either rate he lost a viewer and your respect. Know this and move on, thats all you can do.

What steve said basically I don't wanna sound insulting by saying you are taking the game too seriously but with your outlook and approach to the game and people you're only gonna get let down just forget about it and let it brush over your shoulder

The fault does not entirely with them but rather with both your expectations being too high and how you take it to heart. They are not intending to cause as much harm to you as you seem to perceive

To put it completely bluntly - move on and get over it
I honestly mean that in the nicest way possibly

Sorry but I can't find anyone who has a youtube or streamer trustful. Many past experiences have ended with backstabs, ganks or something that counts as bull like TWOP plus dark bead to the face and I just cringe and get ready for the worst. Not targeting anyone here of course, it's just a bit of paranoia and fear sets in when I find someone who shows this stuff. I prefer to keep a low profile when it comes to this stuff.

Most of the streamers/video makers aren't really gods of pvp. They're just the ones who get the most attention. I'm not gonna name names for the namesake of naming a name (words officially meaningless to me now) but, most of their videos just reek of "yeah i got nothin" when I found their channels, i was like: oh cool! But the more videos I watched, it just turned into the same thing over and over again. When they stream, it just seems like whenever they lose, it turns into a pity parade for them.

I guess this is just a personal gripe, but most streamers seem to be on Xbox/Pc, making me feel like I'm a little excluded due to being on the ps3. I guess thats both a blessing and a curse though. I can't imagine killing someone in pvp, and then suddenly getting hatemail from 50 different people about how i have no "honor" or am a "scrub" for killing their hero.

Well, I really don't know any uploaders or streamers. Really the only people I follow are on the forums and I'm normally carefree when it comes to invading, however I normally don't bow since I'm still there for your humanity.

Just some advice, treat them like you would any other player. Just fight them and move on, sometimes people don't like being put up on a pedestal like that, as far as your example goes just remember that the chances of someone being exempt from their videos are slim even if you are a fan they are likely to treat you the same as someone that doesn't even know them.

No they are not. This is a game...with rules. You wanna play within the games parameters and come on here and sound like a douche fine.

But when you play Dark Souls, you are playing by rules.

The fights that have no rules (hoodrat crackhead steal your pocket money fights) are not glorious at all. I would suggest getting into a real fight, or having a similar real life experience before you start relating such a philosophy.

The REAL fights I've been in are something I prefer not to talk about. What I've experienced in my life with no rules, is a savagery that would rival the most untamed beast in an abandoned land.

Not only do I find your vulgarity offensive, but I find you over-confidently assuming to represent the hardcore a farse and EXTREMELY offensive.

Don't let it get to you. If you don't like how someone plays, then block them. You won't invade them again (for the PS3 at least). Problem solved.

The best fights are the one without rules. No bowing, no "oh the host flasked, so I won the duel", just kill and be killed. That is dark souls.

Now, Samurai - as an uploader I understand the pressure that these guys face to uphold their performances in random pvp incase they happen to stumble upon a fan. Fortunately all of the ones I have stumbled across have been extremely happy to meet me and we have had good games - I generally mention the subs name in a vid to make them feel proud of their performance and know that they have been acknowledged and always am more than happy to just have a conversation with them. But now there are the ones that take their out of video making time seriously and wish to play in a different manner to how they do on camera - they wish to get their negative attitude out of the way for when they do choose to film clips. I also had a minor channel on twitch - I abandoned that after Marcus got kicked off of twitch for parody of a viewer, they couldn't take one piece about him and got D banned. Heh, but anyway - don't judge a youtuber by their videos I would say. Only judge them by experiences you have had with them.

What Rynn posted is what Dark Souls presents. We are the ones who brought honor into the equation. I much prefer fights with "honor," but I still need to deal with the fact that many others will use anything in the game that is available to them to win.

    Never said that.

But I will now. The fights that are worth it, imo, are ones in which a honor system is implemented.

Everything else is filler, that is my opinion.
