I liked the Shrine of Storms, the skellies didn't freak me out as much as those ghosts on the way to the Hero.

I hate the manta rays when you're on the cliffs, I want to call them Storm Riders, but idk. Also, the laser beam Shadowmen and the Grim Reapers... *shudders*

The Tower of Latria is frigin' awesome!
I love the atmosphere and at each of my steps,I'm looking for the picasa-like guards.

Re: Valley of Defilement
The ToL beats the VoD hands downs in the scare stakes, and then some, but this takes nothing away from the VoD as it is still pretty bloody scarey in places. It's just a shame that very little of this atmosphere was transfered over to DkS. NLR may have it's moments from time to time but these are nothing compared to what DS consistantly threw at ya. Heck even the Reapers and Shadowlurkers in 4.2 are way more scarier than the NLR Ghosts, Banshees, and Darkwraiths.

Agreed. As much as I love Dark Souls, apart from areas like New Londo and, to a certain extent, The Depths, I think it's a shame that the atmosphere found in the Valley of Defilement and Tower of Latria - bleak, decaying, corrupted, etc. - is in such short supply in DKS. It would've been good to see a little more of that sort of atmosphere in DKS as a contrast to the brighter, grander locations. Although DKS improves upon DES in some areas, if I had to choose one game for pure atmosphere I'd go for DES.

Re: Valley of Defilement
Atmosphere?
I smiled when I got to the plague babies, they weren't adorable.
It was almost like going into the body of a sick person, each part of the Valley got more and more disgusting. You could see yourself puking at how disgusting the overall setting is, I didn't though, I merely gazed in amazement.
Twas a beautiful sight.

It reminds me of home!
Though I really do love all of the Valley, not just Me and Astraea's awesome house.
