Valley of Defilement Empty Valley of Defilement

Post by Tristan Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:27 pm

Even with Blind/ Sticky White Stuffed Guillotine Axe +6, I fear this horrid place.

*shivers up with my childhood teddy bear cuddled in my arms*

This was what I was hoping for in Dark Souls. Sadly New Londo is the only place that comes close to this feeling.

I love the way the Guillotine Axe feels in my hands too. In fact, most Demon's Souls weapons feel really good and balanced.

No poise and no Rusted Iron Ring make that place a dark, unhappy place.

Especially when you're farming for Faint and Marrowstones.

Already done lol, went from the Dirty Colossus Archstone so I could backtrack more "easily" to BP Selen Vinland. I'll tell ya, second chance performed admirably during that 20 minutes.

I just make it a priority to open the shortcut before exploring the swamp. At least, I can skip the bullcrap if I wish so that way.

Ah, the fond memories. I always stayed on the right side of the large swamp area, praying that the giant depraved ones didn't see me and beat my character to death. I always try to be careful and make it top priority to open up the shortcut.

I've been to VoD exactly ONCE, and so far I haven't been back since! Granted, my first & only visit was with a fairly low level character, and now that I'm sl50 I'm sure the place won't be as bad, but I just haven't been able to muster up the testicular fortitude to go back to that place!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Dark Souls, but there is just something about the atmosphere in Demon's Souls that didn't get captured quite as well in DkS (except possibly, as OP stated, New Londo!)

BP giant depraved ones are still one of the most terrifying things I've encountered in both Souls games.

Doesn't matter if it is a BP version of a giant depraved one or black skeleton. At least 15 playthroughs in, on a PBWT, and I get one-hit killed regardless.

I became quite comfy there in 5-2 while farming marrowstone chunks from the mosquitoes. Faith builds and the Valley are like PB&J.

BoC as in Bed of Chaos? I can't think of any bosses in DeS with those initials. Phalanx, TK, Penetrator, FKA, AS, FL, DG, FI, ME, OM, Adjudicator, OH, SK, LM, DC, MA, OKD and KA

I never managed to kill that NPC phantom in the swamp. She, I think it is a she, got me everytime because my feet were stuck in the mud and she moved so fast. Most times I forgot she was there until it was too late but even when I was looking out for her I could never manage it.

At early levels, they can be a challenge but those giant depraved ones in tight spaces are a real *****.
