@Federally, the books are awesome, but like you said they lose value when they are the only way to learn. Personally my favorite books are Wabbajack (I memorized the rhyme...) Darkest Nights (The real vampires, good ending too) the pick your story one (A pick your story in a pick your story? Gameception!) and the Lusty Argonian Maid was good too. (Kidding, don't read it, just...don't. although it is still better than Twilight)
Some of them are good, but many are abysmal, and its just a bummer reading fake books in a video game is the only way to learn the lore of the world. The concept was good in the beginning of TES, it made you feel the world had real history. Then later it became a crutch for Bethesda, they just relied on it as the only real source for lore, so you wound up with a game filled with 100 poorly written books. I believe your post proves my point well, there are how many books? A lot, and you name 3 or 4 that were good reads, and they were all written for previous TES games and reappeared in Skyrim.
