Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Forest Hunters, please help me understand this situation. Host is alone, 1v1 with a FH. Second FH invades and gets to where the fight is. When I am the second FH, I wait and see if it is an honorable duel. I define that as a fight where neither side uses healing items of any kind. If the host heals with an item, I join the fight. If they don't, I don't.
I assumed most other FH would feel the same, though plenty do just join in immediately. My problem is: a few times I've been the first FH, fighting the host. By the time the second FH arrives, the fight is now 1v1, if it wasn't earlier. The second shows up and watches. I start winning, the Host heals. Second FH does nothing. Host heals again, and again, and again. I Lloyd's them, they DB, humanity chomp. Second FH does nothing. On and on until I lose. During this time I never heal, btw. I send the second FH a message afterwards, wondering why they did what they did, and they don't understand my stance at all. They feel 1v1 is fair, healing or no, and I should just learn to talisman more, and chomp my own humanity.
I don't get it. As far as I'm concerned, a Heal means this is NOT a duel, and duel rules are off. Help me understand if I'm wrong on this. I can't imagine everyone WANTS to fight an endless 20 flask/20 db/20 humanity fight every time they get 1v1.

I am in agreement with you completely. If the 2nd FH did not want to attack the host when he started healing he should have at least starting throwing lloyds at the host (of course this would not help against DBs or humanity - I would most likely attack if the host used those - let you heal then let y'all finish up). That is what I have done in the past in that type of situation. I guess the 2nd FH took honor to its purest form "I fight alone period" :suspect:
All you can do is note the hunters tag and be prepared for the same situation if you invade with him again.
Keep taking it to 'em.

Pretty much the only counter to DB's is chain backstabbing, or rather the best counter. I agree with Broke and you, the other guy should have helped you out.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I throw Lloyd's at them and stand at a very close, intimidating distance most often. If the Forest hunter is a lagstabber, BS Fisher or started the healing by chomping humanity then they're on their own. I try not to sweat what any other Hunters do though. Most of us in this thread fight by very similar rules but we're a small fraction of players and there's no way to communicate our standards of play quickly. For all we know he could have had his own code and wouldn't understand why we act as we do. Maybe he is a fan of Broke's philosophy of "make 'em use all their resources first" or "it's better to take their time than their life"

Pennder I do the same as you and I hate when a fellow FH doesnt join me against a healer.

They probably assumed you had 99 DB as well, it's so common it makes me want to cry.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Hehe, yeah, I don't even know how these people get 99 DB, I've got like 3 at the end of NG. It is moot anyway, I'm realizing I just can't expect anyone, friend or foe, to act according to my code. That would be silly. I will just do my thing, and try to get a win out of it. I realize I may gripe a bit these last few days, but I'm loving my FH career. I feel like I'm grasping the strategies of the Forest. I haven't had a better feeling than after I squeeze a win against two gankers using all the heals and tricks in the books.
It is just an adjustment period to get into the swing of the Forest, when you haven't done much PvP, and what little you did do was mostly honorable dueling. Worth it, though, totally. I just gotta get a nastier weapon to help me fight 2v1. Work in progress!

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Nasty is the way of the forest. I just did a little hunting. Been awhile but....
Caught my first two trying to summon. Usually doesn't end well. It didn't. The first fell easily but the second guy I dominated. How bad you might ask? Bad enough where I was inches from blasting him off the cliff and instead backed off and cast great heal. Nothing says "I own you" like a super long miracle right at their feet. He also tried running up the stairs. He found out poison knives are like reverse slinkies. They go up stairs reeeeeeal fast.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Great night for forest hunters. I vanquished about 25 gankers tonight. Bringing my total to over 140.
Pro-tip: if you spam R1 and I parry you, don't spam R1 the next time I invade you. I so love it when they get into a corner thinking they are either are going to turtle (my mura will dead angle them to death), or spam R1 (my Hornet ring will suddenly become much more valuable). Huge smile when I see them do that.

Damn, i should have counted my ganker kills too. 140 sounds like a respectable number. You haven't even had that build for long, right?

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I've been doing it for a few weeks, IIRC. I hit 150 last night. It was a great night for hunting. Correction, it was an awesome night.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Trust me, once you break 1000 you'll stop counting, it gets really annoying to keep track.

After +3 I stopped keeping track. Not that I really did before +3 but that was the last reference point for obvious reasons.

I divide my time between invading and hunting, so hopefully I won't burn out too quickly.
