Re: Anime General Discussion
Trying to stay away from longer series right now. I'm still juggling tons of series (Fate Zero, Deadman Wonderland, Jormungand, Negima!?, Lucky Star...) from when I stopped marathoning shows a while back, and I don't want to add anything too time-consuming to that list. The sooner I clear out this cluster of shows I'm watching the sooner I can get back to normal marathoning longer stuff.Aigaios wrote:Hunter x Hunter?
Trying to catch up on the other entries to the series before I look into this one. Still haven't finished Fate Zero and I haven't even started Fate/Stay Night.Soul of Stray Demon wrote:Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA

So...plenty of things coming up it turns out. Anyone see anything interesting? From what I've read so far I've only seen a couple things I'm interested in, not including sequel series to stuff I've already seen.

A basketball anime?
I'm sure that will be a very true-to-life representation.

Um... there was one about Kendo that was amazing... The fun in that show was about the connection between the characters.... if only I could remember what it was called.Reaperfan wrote:Usually the fun in sports anime is in how completely unrealistic they areWhatDoesThePendantDo? wrote:A basketball anime?

The only kendo-based sports anime I've heard of was Bamboo Blade. Haven't actually seen it, but I saw a review for it.Soul of Stray Demon wrote:Um... there was one about Kendo that was amazing... That's it, Bamboo Blade. I don't know all that much about Kendo, but it seemed accurate enough.Reaperfan wrote:The only kendo-based sports anime I've heard of was Bamboo Blade. Got a question, im thinking of watching Naruto Shippuuden again since I never got too far into the series but I dont know if I should watch it from the start or if I should watch it from the last episode that I watched which is around episode 80-100?

If you remember everything that happened, there's no reason not to just pick up where you left off. Why waste time starting from the beginning if you'd just be retreading old ground?Aigaios wrote:Got a question, im thinking of watching Naruto Shippuuden again since I never got too far into the series but I dont know if I should watch it from the start or if I should watch it from the last episode that I watched which is around episode 80-100?
If not, read a plot synopsis or episode summaries, and then pick up where you left off. 80-100 episodes is alot to go through just to play catch-up on your own memory.

This, watching all those episodes is a waste of time.Reaperfan wrote:If you remember everything that happened, there's no reason not to just pick up where you left off. Or just watch an abridged version(If they have one) to catch up.

Watching an Abridged series isn't exactly the best way to get the real story...Latitoast wrote:Or just watch an abridged version(If they have one) to catch up.
Though it does bring me to another idea where with long series like this, if you look up episode summaries you can find the various "recap episodes" throughout the series and just watch those up until things stop being familiar.

Re: Anime General Discussion
I don't know. I like the characters, it's funny, and I know the plot will eventually pick up. Not to mention that it surpasses Chaos;Head in virtually every way so far. It's just...I cannot get in the mood for it. I don't know if it's just not my cup of tea or if I just shouldn't watch it now. There's a lot of stuff I would rather be watching so maybe that's why.
The same thing happened with Gurren Lagann. For the most part, mecha animes are a little distasteful, personally of course, so I put that one off for a couple years. Eventually I felt like it was time so I watched it. Do I like it as much as most of the internet seems to like it? Probably not. Did I enjoy it more than I thought I would? Absolutely.
Abandoning this slight tangent, I read that Steins;Gate doesn't pick up until around episode 13. Is this true? I'm barely on episode 8

Re: Anime General Discussion
It's actually closer to a mystery anime than anything else. You're still in the "characters are still trying to figure out exactly what's going on phase" and things won't pick up until all the major plot clues have been discovered (it's hard to make this not sound COMPLETELY generic without dropping spoilers...). So I guess I'm trying to say, yes it will pick up.hey its andres wrote:I don't know. I like the characters, it's funny, and I know the plot will eventually pick up. However, it never loses the fact that it's a mystery anime so if you're in the mood for something action-y or silly you may want to take a break before you get too invested. Definitely finish it though, it's in my top 10 anime list for a reason
On a personal note, I actually enjoyed the second half of Steins;Gate less than the buildup phase. I like their unique take on the concept of time travel so I found learning about that alot of fun, and then let's just say later on Okarin makes some decisions I dunno if I agree with...(and yes, I call them by Mayushi's abbreviations of their names)

It probably doesn't help that I watch episodes at irregular intervals due to school. The last one I watched was about 2 weeks ago.

Just watch it man, I hesitated to watch it for a really long time due to the fact that its slow to start but once I went past that barrier it was totally worth it. I think I attempted to watch it five times until I got into it though.

Not really anime. But i've been reading this manga called "The Voynich Hotel" It's pretty weird at times. But the art style is awesome. And the story is intresting, if a little hard to understand.
i can't really describe it very effectively. So here's a link to thefirst chapter: ░▒▓▓▒░
