People finally threw their sense of so called morals aside and started using one of the most effective and safe weapons in the game?

Winning has become the main goal in PvP to many people and started using the weapon that ensures just that?

Every thread you make you seem to just be complaining that the Dark souls PvP community is doing nothing but things you find unenjoyable to face.

    Why even keep playing?

I don't mind seeing Spears; I used to figure them almost unbeatable, but now they don't really seem all that strong by the very nature of the way they play. The idea of winning through light, safe pokes over a long amount of time does seem initially appealing. However, the time it takes it to kill is essentially more time for the opponent to make a mistake for which you must capitalize upon. I've personally come to fear the Estoc much more than the Spear in the right hands.

As well, I haven't encountered a sudden proliferation of Spear users on PS3. I do agree with Soris and Sentinel that it's most likely because they found the effectiveness of the weapon to be rather enticing.

Given the damage spears do, even on riposte, you can simply outheal it and crush them.
Bringing the fight into areas with not enough room for the spear user to maneuver is also a good option.

That's true. The pit in Lower Blighttown kinda sucks for a spear....but if you're talking about the bridges in Sen's, then...

That's cool, we all have our own ways of dealing with things. I was actually curious as to why you played the game, because I hadn't heard any of this before. If you enjoy souls then play souls. I only brought it up because I've known people to force themselves to keep playing a game long after the fun was gone and it basically turned into a chore for them, and it ruined the game forever for them. Where maybe a short break, a snack or in your case a little rant on the forums will calm you down and you can get back to having fun.

I don't want you to leave, and I hope you do return. If making these threads lets you go back into the game and have a little fun I'd be more than happy to keep reading them

The best way I have to deal with spear users is just to dodge and block them until they get frustrated and start making mistakes, then you can probably manage to trade hits or land a backstab, not to mention parrying them once they get agressive.

The way i take care of spear users is roll right into their face and bait the attack and parry it. Easier said than done most of the time.

I can second this, both the tactic and the "Easier said than done" part.

I try to parry everything. Hardest thing i've come across is rapiers and all that. I think i've landed maybe 5 parrys against those stupid things.

^ This. Or equip a good countering weapon, the other night I hit a spear user with a BSS 2h r2 for over 600 hp. Katana's running r1 is pretty effective too.

Yes, I still cant do it with a normal medium parry speed shield most of the time. Fast parry shields work better, Target shield is most effective for this

I use a target shield, parrying daggers, painting guardian swords, or anything that can parry but one thing i do not ever equip or use is a medium shield. I don't remember the last time i've used one.

If you have the parry timing down, medium shields are king. If you need more parry flexibilty (as I do for GreatScythe and spears) the timing window is larger for parrying dagger and target/buckler shields. Do curved swords have the same parry window as those^, or is it shorter?

They're not faster than parrying daggers. Those are the fastest (99% sure seeing as they're called the "parrying" dagger") But i know the curved swords have bigger windows than the medium shields. I'm sure there's a video on youtube with the comparisons. The only reason i don't use medium shields is because after playing so many matches i found myself not even using the block button. All i would try to do is work on my parrying. And parrying daggers and all those other variants are meant for parrying so it's a better suit for me. Plus medium shields are heavier. I see no reason to block in pvp imo.

If you can learn to parry all weapon classes in DkS, and completely understand movesets and understand builds, no one can stop you. Not even OP magic/big weapon hornet ringin bs fishin high critical tool bags.

It's all very well and good to say "I'm pro and don't need to block" but blocking is very very useful, you just tap L1 and you can negate your opponent's attack. As long as you don't rely on it, good shield use decides duels.

It seems as if everyone is bent on winning or trying to generally *** with people. I mean this by people saying that they're "trolling" (hate that word BTW), but they just use it as an excuse to be a **** because they can.

I don't know how many times I've fought against cosgankers or giantdads and they've said it was a joke, yet they tried to win by healing and backstabbing.

It's as if the community is ripped at the seams and everyone has different morals:
-The "street fighters", take out everything overpowered and make up rules that aren't there.

-The casuals, got the game 1+ year after it came out and are so saturated by FPS's and bad RPG's that they look up the guide from step 1.

-The "pros", (I know I'll get flak for this one), the people who think they're above all the others in PvP and use advanced tactics whenever they can. It would be like a twink going against a SL 6. I'll only use intentional dead angles, raviolistep, reverse rolls, spell cancels, etc. when I know I'm against somebody on my level of PvP skill. Not against the usual new PvPer.

-The blamers, they blame the reason the game is turning more and more like a bad MP game on other commnuities, but never realize their own falacies towards the game. If you dark bead spam gankers or hornet backstab spear users, they're just going to realize that's more effective than what they're doing and switch.

This community is more divided that a lot of countries... and I think that people need to second look who's the one to blame.
