Using Magic in the Archieves

I read a lot of stuff that said magic damage doesn't work well in the Duke's Archieves, so I decided to test this with my mage. My mage has not gone through the DLC area's yet, so she doesn't have any Dark Magic. This is on NG+ offline.

First, I 2 shoted both Iron Boars with SS. Then I took out the first group of soldiers with my MLGS. It took only 2 R1s, 1 BS, or 1 R2 per soldier. Then I one shotted the Channeller with a SS. Then I finished off the other enemies.

Then I go up the stairs and took out the Crystal Warrior with 3 or 4 HSMs, but he blocked all of them.

Then I eneter Seath's 1st area, equip the normal ring of sacrifice, get cursed, and lose everything.

The second area went similar to the first area. The serpents and pisicas were easy to take out.

Then I got outside and encountered an actuall problem. The Crystal Golems were very resistant, so I was forced to run past them.

Then I got to Seath the Scaless. First, I shot 2 CSS before breaking the crystal. Then I broke the crystal. I shot CSS, SS, and HCSM at him. He only has a little health left, so I finish him off with MLGS. I can't remember all of the damages, but I do remember CSS did a little over a thousand.

Pure magic damage works at least on NG+, but not in the outside area. This means the rumor that magic doesn't work isn't completely true. I still have to test it on NG.

I always assumed that the crystal covering the enemies were some kind of residue magic from seath that made them have stronger immunity toward magic attack. There for, the golem made full of crystal make them practically immune to magic. Even the sheild of the crystal covered NPC before seath library room have a high dmg deflect on the magic when you buy it. Its what made the most logic to me.

Oh yeah, I feel your about the normal ring of sacrifice. I did it today, usually work because I had enough soft humanity on me to not get curse. But this time it went wrong XD.

It only has 60% magic defense.

It's really just the Golems, everything else is people simply making mountains out of mere molehills.

And, oh yeah, I always Rare Ring my first encounter with Seath.

I never thought they were not weak to magic, sure they were crystal, but I used to use magic to kill Seath. This was before I killed everything in there, and I was just running through.

That's what I usually do, but I equiped the wrong one.
