    Question about plunging damage

Post by XuitusTheGreat on Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:45 am

did an epic plunge off the hydra ladder onto a ganker/host, he took 870 damage. I have 1011 AR and my normal att does that or more, yet when I do low fall plunge attacks the damage is close to that of a backstab, is there a penalty for lethal plunges?

Firstly, how do you have 1011 AR? Secondly did the attack kill him? You can't deal more damage to a player than health they have. So if the attacked killed them they only had 870 hp left.

Thats odd. I assume by lethal plunge in meant that drop killed you. Thats may be the reason why, bu you'd have to test it more.

I would have turned off the game after that, but it may be due to his armor (A.K.A housewife gear) That could have done it, but personally i've never understood how these work. I've done plungings that do half of my normal hits and it's like.. wtf?

I thought plunge attacks did two hits; both criticals. I kill the giants outside of O&S with one plunge attack. Maybe because they're so big, there's more time to damage them in the fall?

Well one thing I know for sure about plunging attacks are the more accurate the more times it does damage at all. For example, on the capra demon, a good plunging attack will do the original damage you do with the plunge time 2 beause it hits twice. I believe that you can 2-3 hits on the Royal Sentinals as well because they're very large enemies.

Plunging attacks as far as I know work like dead angles; they hit you, they pancake you.

I managed a plunging attack in the Demon Ruins for about 15-1700 damage with a BKGA and an AR of 615 against a guy in full giants. At 1015, the plunging attack should have been devastating, and I think they go up the farther you fall.

This video on the other hand seems to suggest dying mid-strike isn't helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_G-YlyY1j8
