I will be invading the forest to hunt some sinners for this first time this morning to see how the gank is after the DLC hit.

On a side note - I'm going to be arranging (hosting) some friendly fight training in the moonpit in the near future so any comrades (Dancash, Emo, Wolf, nsane, Rudmed, etc) on the XBOX who has either SL70-80ish or SL120 toon let me know and we will coordinate a good date and time. I went on the worst losing streak last night in the township - some of those dudes were very skilled. It was horrible. My only win was against a turtling katana-holding Chester look alike who ran away multiple times to heal. I got tired of it chased him down and speared him the back. I simply rage quite after that :x .

    Uparkaam,
After a few successful invasions I had a tough go of connecting last night too. Ended up putting a red sign down in Oolacile. That coulda gone better but on the plus side I rocked the plow and almost took the gut out before he was able to heal.

Oh man, you gotta love those WoG spamming, BKGA ninja flipping, medium armor, estus abusers big grin
Last night I encounter one of them and by surprise he was alone. He almost oneshotted me with BS (I have 1700+ hp) but then friendly FH came and engaged him leaving me enough time to escape with 10hp left :O Since host used flask I immediately used humanity to heal but then while I was reentering fight FH died.

Suffice to say, at the end I beat the host but to do that I had to endure constant WoG spamming, BS fishing, 4 times flask healing and pointless ninja flipping all over the place... pretty much long fight. Since I'm using Ricards Rapier, I was aiming for BSs of course but what killed him was actually fast R1s (weak a$$ poise?).
Anyway, was interesting last night happy

    Hello!
So I've only just joined up with the Forest Hunters, and so far, near constant ganking aside, I'm loving it! I'm not exactly experienced in PvP, but I've spent today getting geared towards what I think could help for PvP. I'm mainly looking for advice on whether or not I'm barking up the wrong tree, if you'll excuse the pun! I've read the first few pages of the first thread, some brilliant tips in there!

I've popped all my stats, gear etc in the spoiler tag, so as not to leave a selfish wall of text on my first post!

Hello there and welcome to the forums, Skare. big grin Always nice to have some more Forest hunters here. Also, since you're using dex weapons and pyro, you should maybe increase your dex to 45. It would give you good scaling for your weapons and the fastest casting times for pyros.

Definitely got a good start on things. Absolutely increase your dex as suggested and if you're dedicating this character to forest hunting don't stop leveling.

Brilliant, so as a matter of course I should aim towards higher Dex. above all else? Amos, I'm eventually wanting to top out everything similar to that, thanks!

I was kind of wondering about Chaos weps, with humanity scaling. Are they worth using, seeing as you can't lose your humanity when vanquished?

I wouldn't. You already have enough dex for close to maximum damage from attribute scaling (so not a rookie mistake, it will help you out a lot in the long run). By going the regular weapon route you'll focus your damage all into one type (physical) and therefore only against one defense type. By going Chaos, you'll split the damage and therefore the damage output faces two defense types to go against. Long story short, with a dex based weapon you'll do more damage head to head. Plus, you can buff it for even more damage (although not with pyromancy, you'll need resins or invest in sorcery or miracles a little). If you depart from a dex based weapon an elemental route would be advised since your stats might not be optimal for it. For example, a chaos version of a str. weapon would work better for you than the regular path

Excellent! That all makes sense. I've got a pretty good grasp of most of the game mechanics, there's just one or two I get confused about. I've got most of the sorceries and miracles - one of the reasons I've spent so long on a single playthrough is to pretty much collect all I can. winking

I did the same thing. My forest hunter is the first character I made, currently at SL 225. The best thing about the high level and collection of items/spells/etc. is that you can always adapt the character easily. You should be able to use sorcery buffs and be relatively effective. If you're going pyro though, resins might be close to as effective and not take up a weapon slot for a catalyst. Happy hunting!

Yep - if you have a dedicated FH toon keep leveling so you can become as versatile as possible with your weaponry and tactics. This is important since you will encounter all types of opponents (as you probably already know) so if you can easily adapt to various offenses/defenses invasions will become a bit more manageable.

In regards to normal vs elemental weapons - use both types until your FH inflicts attacks are optimal with one damage type (usually normal w/buff or straight magic ) will be the way you want to go.

I love this place already. Why did I not join last October?!

Just out of interest, typically how much bleed resist do people aim for whilst online? Is it kept high, or is it a stat oft left forgotten? I only ask so I know how many times I need to hit people! twisted

Skarectum, you're not likely to have too many opportunities for bleed in PvP unless you have a fast bleed weapon and are very aggressive. I used to use the Lifehunt (not stick to Great Scythe) and I did trigger bleed but only when I was pretty decent at pinning an enemy and repeatedly hitting the R1 attack. As for resistance to bleed you see two possibilities usually. The heavy armor guys with good resistance to everything or the really fast guys who will run and dodge the second they see the meter go up.

Not to mention its really easy to roll out of bleed entirely making it kinda useless, even someone that doesn't know how to do it can do it without noticing.

Rectum, I usually don't go for any bleed resist. I instead roll through bleed if I need to.

When rolling you become impervious to normal damage, which bleed is one big damage burst. So if you roll and have the invincibility frames going when it hits, you take no damage. So you can be bled multiple times without taking damage. It takes a bit to learn the timing but with a friend you can practice. Dueling him and letting him bleed you then attempting the dodge. It is actually possible while even fat rolling, though much harder to time.

Right! If that's the case, I may swap LH out for an upgraded Great Scythe, once I get chance to upgrade it. That's interesting about rolls, I'll have to give it a go. I really need to work on my roll backstabs, ha!
