Progression report, re. my SL1 Humanity intact play-through...

Post by Gazman0169 on Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:35 am

Last night I began my SL1 Humanity intact play-through, and in the space of just under an hour using only my starting gear, along with any gear that I picked up along the way, I managed to defeat the Asylum Demon (on the first attempt), the Taurus Demon (on the first attempt), the Bell Gargoyles (on the first attempt, with Solaire's help), the Capra Demon (on the third attempt), and the Knight Lautrec (on more attempts than I care to mention, the basket lol ) in order to gain the RoFP. big grin

I've been low-level invaded twice, which is a bit of a surprise as I was expecting to be a heck of a lot more, and on both occasions as expected had my butt pretty much handed to me on a silver platter. lol

I'm now in the depths farming large titanite shards to upgrade my equipment further, and Humanity to boost my supply as I have a feeling that I'm going to need as much as I can get my grubby little mitts on.

Beyond this I intend to take on Kirk on my way to the Gaping Dragon, before stepping foot in Blighttown! :affraid:

Rage quit here I come! lol

Oh, and just to confirm, when I say Humanity intact I mean that if I have Humanity then I must remain Human at all times, meaning that if I die at any time I have then got to immediately restore my Humanity, regardless of the amount of Souls and Humanity that I may of just lost.

My eldest is filming my progress (to a certain degree) via my Blackberry, but so far has only managed to capture my encounters with the Taurus and Capra Demons, the latter of which caused me to swear quite a bit, and so a considerable amount of bleeping out is in order if I ever get around to posting them online for all to see. Her commentry is brill, although in introducing the first she did get the game mixed up with DS, but she can be forgiven for that seeing as that she is doing such an overall stella job.

Anyway, I'll keep you all posted as to my progress, wish me luck, as I've a feeling I'm gonna need it! big grin

Sounds like your making some good progress so keep going and dont give up. Btw good luck with the 4 kings at that low of a level. It will probably be your hardest fight depending on how you handle it.

That's the one I am dreading the most, but by the time I get around to squaring up to them I should have a lot better equipment, and anyway before then I've got to find a way passed the Silver Bow Knights in Anor Londo, followed by a date with O&S! :affraid:

Don't forget to use Resins + light weapons. That helps a lot.

I agree with mark. At your level you want to use anything possible to make your weapons better. The resins will help a little but i dont know if you have the stats for elemental upgrades which are better for lower levels.

Well hopefully you figure out what to use and again good luck through your journey.

Resins can help a ton as they add a +80 dmg flat for fire, and 180 for Golden Pine. So a light weapon with +180 lit damage per hit (more than the lit spear you get at sens fortress) makes for a dangerous combination

    @ mark

I see your point but since gold pine resins are the hardest to get than he is going to have to find something else that helps.

My suggestion would be upgrade a weapon to lightning which, to me, is one of the strongest elemental upgrades. But its up to you, you can always go for charcoal resins which you can by from the merchant in the tunnel shortcut to lower burg.

Yeah the resins are just to get you to the Lit / Fire weapons. Once you get those, they are superior to resins. But for where he's at (Depths) it's decently far from Lightning weapons. Gaping Dragon/Queelag/Iron Golem/ and then Lightning weapons. Although you'll get the spear in Sen's Fortress and I'd suggest you use that.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I think I've got it all in hand.

Being a SL1 there are very few weapons I can use effectively, and the list pretty much comes down to- Cestus, Dark Hand, Dagger, Ghost Blade, Broken Straight Sword, Straight Sword Hilt, Jagged Ghost Blade, Hand Axe, Battle Axe (my weapon of choice), Club, Mace, Morningstar, Reinforced Club, Light Crossbow, Pyromancy Flame, and either the Sorcerer's/Beatrice's/ or Izalith Catalyst's.

Pyromancies are not a problem as they are all open to me, Magic's are limited to just- Soul Arrow/Magic Shield/Magic Weapon/and Aural Decoy (which I have never once used), and all Miracles are way out of my reach.

With such a limited selection to choose from buffs are a Godsend and dare I say it a necessety early on in the game, but the only way forward will be for me to upgrade my weapons of choice to both +5 Lightning and +5 Chaos ascensions as quickly as poss.

One things for sure I've got a long and hard road ahead of me, but I think I'm up for the challenge! big grin

Aural Decoy can come in quite useful.

A Raw Reinforced Club is good, and a buffed dagger is really dangerous in PvE. Battle Axe is quite good as well.

At slight hiccup in my quest to become a Lordran legend, I've pulled a muscle in my other life, and so I am currently in severe pain typing this update one handed, which means that I have had to put my controller down for a bit, but I am quietly confident that normal service will resume shortly.

Back on again this evening, and here's how I did: -

The Gaping Dragon (on the forth attempt), Chaos Witch Quelaag (on the first attempt, with Maneater Mildred's help), the Stray Demon (more times than I care to mention, the basket).

Mini Bosses that have fallen to my Battleaxe along the way are the Mecha Boar in the Undead Parish (on the first attempt), the Tower Knight in the Undead Parish (on the first attempt), both of the Butchers (each on the first attempt), the Giant Rat (on the first attempt), Knight Kirk in the Depths (more times than I care to mention), Maneater Mildred (on the first attempt), and both of the Black Knights in the Undead Asylum (one on the first attempt, the other more times than I care to mention).

Blighttown was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting it to be, and in fact I only died once there, after I somehow managed to do a backwards jump off of a very high ladder about a third of the way down. Anyway, after a quick trip to Sen's to pick up the Covertous Gold Serpent Ring, I finished off the night back down in the depths farming Humanity and Large titanite Shards.

No invasions whatsoever  , but despite this all in all it wasn't a bad nights work, even if I do say so myself. big grin

Well Ricard easily fell to my trusty +10 Battleaxe this morning, and now that I have done all there is to do in Sen's it is time for me to take on the Iron Golem the next time I'm online! big grin

Still only two invasions to date though, both in the Undead Berg, which is very surprising, and dare I say it a bit of a disappointment, as I had geared myself up to have a bit of a nightmare in this regard. Oh well, never mind. When I make it to NG+ on this play-through I may set myself up to low-level invade in the later stages of the game, to help prevent others from experiencing the same crushing levels of disappointment.

Well the Iron Golum is now pushing up daisies after two attempts, with Iron Tarkus's help. It would have been one, but I tripped up over my big feet and fell off the edge to my death on the first try.

I'm now back in the Depths farming Humanity, after clearing out Anor Londo (opening all of the shortcuts, etc). Surprisingly the Silver Knight bowman only topped me the once, as having successfully parried the one on the right, I then decided to walk off the edge, which was very reminisant of my death to the Iron Golum earlier. I guess the shock of actually landing a parry was too much for my poor ol toon to bear! lol

But the big shock was that I actually found myself being invaded at the start of the level, having just dispatched the first bridge Gargoyle in mega quick time, by a SL49 Spirit of Vengance. :affraid: Needless to say he pretty much made mincemeat out of me with his Lightning Shotel, but as he came across as a nice guy I really didn't mind. big grin

I have a date with O&S next, as soon as I've farmed an ample supply of Humanity to heal up with. I've a feeling I'm going to need as much as I can get my grubby little mitts on, and so the Depths is going to be my home for a short while.

I really admire the way you're doing your challenge. Going backwards to farm necessities, and all. Makes Lordran seem like more of a 'home' when you aren't just constantly pushing forward, like I tend to do.

Me too. Wish more people would do SL1 runs, or even 10>. Low level Co-op is just so much fun. But you rarely see any online interaction unfortunately. On my first SL1 run, I wasn't invaded once, or find any summon sigs, though I was human through out the whole run!

Yeah, as a lvl1 adventurer you're gonna get minimal invasions considering the average lvl of invaders in certain areas. Honestly as a lvl1 you should only be getting invaded in the Burg, right?

Message me when you're ready to tackle the kings. It is hands down the funnest fight as a low level, in my opinion of course. If you want to farm humanity as well, we can do the baby skeletons in the tomb. I can always use more humanity!

Also burg invasions, at least legit ones, are incredibly rare. usually always bb glitchers trying to grief.
