So I'm on YouTube watching Sansvie basically reinvent DkS PvP when I see him take a GS hit, stun for a split second, toggle escape and immediately parry. He goes on to do this many, many times. I'm thinking, ".........holy f**k." Bam, light goes off...

THATS EFFING GENIUS. Never occured to me to do this playing on my below 53 breakpoint builds. Or ever, for that matter. If someone is willing to practice this with me, I think we could both benefit tremendously.

Explain to me exactly when you have to do the toggle to escape the lock. I've never been able to do it reliably.

He does it AS he's taking the hit, not between them. It's the same concept as a tank parry against a dex weapon, except you can do it against any weapon with poise being a nonissue. And the dude has quite clearly determined that he's going to tank the hit beforehand, so he's prepared to toggle out. The video I saw him do it in is titled "Garo Forest Invasions". Watch it. YT channel is "sansviedotcom".

Sanvie is a pro IMO. I've being trying to do this since a week ago, and I could only do it against ultra greatswords (zweihanders), rest is almost impossible lol

Like I said, you have to KNOW you're about to intentionally tank a hit so you can nail the timing. If we could get this **** down... well, obviously it's going to ruin the poise stack/GS build's s**t. If they see the first hit connect, they WILL swing again. It's a way to guarantee the equivalent of a setup parry.

Sansviedot is a dark souls god.

Screw making Gwyn unparry-able to fix the final boss, just replace him with sansviedot.

I'd link it, but I'm on my phone. I put the title of the vid in an earlier comment. He basically poops on these two forest campers for a good eight minutes until they're out of flasks. And he barely takes damage.

And if Sans were the final boss, people would be rage quitting everywhere.

That's absolutely nuts. If I knew the oppenent was going to do it though, I could hypothetically pull off a pivot bs while he toggles/parries. On the other hand, I could absolutely decimate gankers if I learned to do this, with light armor and the hornet ring on. I always felt that the toggle escape was a bit glitchlike though, I'm hesitant to use it for that reason. I prefer the poise break Cursed GS build I'm using now, I've gotten used to stunlocking Havels and Giant's armor.

Great idea, never thought to do that either! I could see it being more use against greatswords than ultra-greatswords, though. UGSs are so slow, you can parry their first hit on sight as it is. GSs, though, can be tricky. But is toggling out quick enough to setup-parry a GS, or is it only slow enough to be used against ultra-large weapons?

All right. Went to the second bonfire in Anor, dropped poise to 0 and practiced on the Silver Knights. This technique is actually really, really easy. And there is NO stagger time at all of you swap correctly, giving you just as much time as you would have for a tank parry.

Yeah. Especially against a greatsword. It's a situation method, but a great one to have.
