Strange summoning

I apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but I am trying to play through Demon's Souls blind, the way I WISH I had played through DkS! So anyways I was in the Tower of Latria, trying to get my stain back for the hundredth time when I decided to throw down a summon sign. A few minutes later I was being summoned, but was greeted by a cutscene with some undead person who wrapped my head up in what looked like a Xanthous crown, and I was then informed that I had INVADED someone's world. Problem is I was trapped in this room behind a fog gate. I waited for awhile and no one showed up so I white stoned outta there. I placed my summon sign a few times later and this never happened again.

So...what exactly DID happen?

Just try staying in the room a while longer....you'll see .

So does it just happen randomly, like if I put my sign down anywhere in the level? Like I said, I spent another couple of hours getting my @$$ stomped by black phantom squid heads, and I was never summoned in this manner again.

Yeah I think it's random.

It's completely random, and well thats the way that boss fight is.

I doubt anyone wants help with this boss though to be honest, it's a PvP boss so if there's more than one of you, it's just ganking

Oh. Well I still haven't gotten to that boss myself (still looking for that damned 2F key) so when I saw that creepy cutscene it was a serious WTF moment! So...if i get to that boss room and nobody has entered my world will it just be like fighting an NPC?

Its the way the "Old Monk"bossfight works .
You can invade the Area before the BossFog it to become the "Old Monk" (You dont need the Cling ring btw you have FULLHEALTH!).
I dont know why but youwil be summoned as the Monk by using the blue eye stone happened quite often to me .

Yep .And he fights like Wolverine .

Must be a glitch, kinda like invading with the white stone in Dark Souls. I'm new to Demons Souls & I only get to play whenever I have free access to my roommate's PS3, so I don't even have the "invasion stone" yet! This is a very interesting concept for a boss fight though...glad I went ahead & ordered a EU copy so I can keep playing online!!!

It's not a glitch, lay any type of soapstone down in any part of Latria and there's a chance of this happening, I won't spoil it for you though, but it's great fun.

I finally got summoned for this again, and actually got to fight the host! Threw me for a loop when I saw soul arrows flying ay me from nowhere till I got closer & realized he had that ring on that makes you hard to detect. I fought him clean but in the end he was no match for my claymore! Fun fight! I am really glad they are keeping the servers up so us Demon's Souls noobs can enjoy this game in it's entirety.

me and my friend both got summoned for the monk fight just from laying down signs in latria trying to summon each other. welcome back demons souls!

I just fought with a guy in full Fluted Armor. I was wielding the Makoto. He was though because he was fast roll away from me and healing. My final slash was the running R1. It was an epic finish.

the one thing ive realized about demons souls pvp, the push lock is extremely powerful. almost too much so. pole arms with a push in their moveset are amazingly good for pvp. i even beat someone with a secret dagger with no buff by push/attack. its like demons souls version of the stun lock.

I'll have to try the push next time I'm invaded if it's that effective, because of the handful of times I've been invaded (all in 1-2) I've lost every time! That one monk battle is the only DS pvp match I've won so far!
