Underrated, but still not great. Buff it and anything is ok...

Underrated? Comparing it to the other weapons out there would be a joke, unless your talking about PvE then I guess it can pass as OK but that goes for every weapon.
JUST MY OPINION

Re: Hand Axe opinions
I have a +15 Hand Axe on my Spearman build. Overall, the thing is mighty deadly with its r1 that combos wonderfully and it doesn't whiff. Other than that, it has the crappy moveset of Axe combined with short range. When I am duelling in the burg, I sometimes keep the Hand Axe as a secondary weapon as it can stunlock pretty well on medium poise builds. An equivalent Dex. weapon to the Hand Axe is the Falchion: they both fill the same niche except that the Hand Axe can stunlock a bit better at the cost of a god-awful roll attack.

Re: Hand Axe opinions
The hand axe is the only axe that does not stagger when using R1, although somewhat does for R2 atatck.
The Hand Axe is underrated, removing damage with speed and timing compared to the Battle Axe.

How much poise does it take away per hit?roanispe wrote:I have a +15 Hand Axe on my Spearman build. Overall, the thing is mighty deadly with its r1 that combos wonderfully and it doesn't whiff. Re: Hand Axe opinions
I like the looks of it, however if you wanna tank I would consider 10 less Dex and 10 more Vit. Lowering Dex to 30 decreases your AR 16 and increasing your Vit to 37 gives you 312 more hp.
Oh and i'm a big fan you're gonna fat roll, that's awesome three cheers for you

Fat roll isn't much different, other than one aspect of you being vulnerable of being hit for almost 2 seconds, but less. Have fun with that, I had to do that at one point. Did not work very well against four kings, Gwyn, and other fast hitters. I am somewhat piss when I see people wearing heavier Armour and equipment... And flip.

I share your rage over the heavy armor guys doing flips, it's really ridiculous and I hate that FROM lets that crap fly. However how does not dodging hurt you fighting 4 Kings? I fought them using Iron Flesh and dodging isn't even an option with that on lol. You just tank those ***** and go mad crazy with full DPS. Or did I misread your post?

Re: Hand Axe opinions
Rolling with heavy Armour. Let's be fair, when the four King's or whatever swarm with swords from different locations, poise won't save you. They also like to run away from you for better range too. I never use iron flesh for anything serious. In all seriousness, I would rather have no poise for light or medium movement, so that I can charge and kill enemies with my hammer or sword as fast as possible. I roll or let them hit me, I have learned to kill four King's by myself at times. However, since I coop with my friend, I do it with characters that are relatively new, which I usually delete due to me getting bored of them. I did fight the four King's by myself in NG+ x 5. Fun and easy.

Re: Hand Axe opinions
Maybe I'm missing a big change in NG+ or something but in NG I just ran up to them, hit iron flesh and yanked their hits while I destroyed them with my chaos blade. Iron flesh would wear off right around when they died, then heal up, charge the next one and repeat. Until the fourth which died to a single 2H running R1. It's the only time I've used iron flesh and it worked wonders considering my light armor, 0 poise build at the time.

Re: Hand Axe opinions
i actually have been using the hand axe quite a bit with my low lvl mage. i made it fire +5 and i use it for when i need to break an enemy/opponents guard and then use the jagged ghost blade for physical dmg. it only weighs 2lbs and is one of the lightest weapons that can break guard somewhat easily(or at least it doesnt bounce of the shield). good low lvl weapon imo. or good if you just cant hold anything heavier, +5 fire is viable so +10 or +5 lightning im sure works great.

Re: Hand Axe opinions
Only problem I've found so far, is it's horrible for hacking through poise.
