PvP: Great Combustion is the standby. Great Fireball and Chaos Fireball are good ones (manually aim them). Fire Surge can be helpful as well.
PvE: Fireballs, combustions are the best by far. Fire Tempest is the strongest AoE pyro, but it is unpredictable.

Combustion and greater and then a couple of fire orb style heavy hitters.
Later get poison or toxic cloud, its good for packed areas and pvp fun

I love tempest. Forest farmers have a habit of running head first at you, so I just move to one on the bridges and make Farmer burgers. Seriously, I've killed a Farmer and his phantom with a single cast on the bridge before the bearcats.

Spells should be a support weapon, not a primary attack. When I started as a pyromancer I found that saving my few shots for more difficult enemies was better in the long run.
Combustion and Great Combustion are almost necessary, Great Chaos fireball if you have enough slots, if not then great fireball. The mists are great in PVP, but not worth giving up a slot for a single use. Power Within if you wanna go wild with attacks, but if you're gonna be defensive than avoid this like the plague.

I have three slots for pyro on all three of my Darkwraiths.

Combustion for in close. Fireballs for wreaking havoc, and Fire Tempest for total devastation.
Get your dex up to 45 and the casting speed is just glorious. I have killed literally thousands of hosts and phantoms with Fire Tempest. Once you have the timing of your casting speed down it is almost too easy.
The spell is so awesome that I have often felt like I am cheating.
