I'm invading via red stones in the depths at sl 31. I've been host to many invasions as well.

I was invaded by a series of darkmoons and this is what happened.

I placed my character at the bonfire facing right of the hallway. I let each invader come it and do whatever.

Everyone of them went for a bs, killed me and bowed. Each one invaded more than once, simply rushed in and took the bs. then bowed.

Whats the point of bowing at that point?

They saw you idle and felt that it was not a fair fight, so they kill you and bow showing apology. Proper Bow

It could be that but it was the same people multiple times. That could explain it if someone did it once, like its the first person they invade who's idle.

I kinda feel like it shows that bowing is losing its meaning... I mean it has to me as far as the game goes.

Bowing in normal pvp after you kill someone is akin to shooting someone in the face and then apologizing. The only time I bow is if they bow to me or I'm showing them some respect for something. There are people that think anyone who doesn't bow is not showing respect... and that could be true. Respect in life and in this game is earned, not simply given. If I fight against someone and they give me a good battle then they'll get a bow. Otherwise they see me walk off into the sunset on their screen without a word. If they're forest gankers then they get taunted.

For duels it's different, but I prefer normal pvp where anything goes and there are no rules other than winner takes all.

I used to bow before fights, and after good fights that I won. But if I bow to you and the first thing you do is spam wog or something I feel there was no point in it in the first place. Same with what I saw tonight. These people saw me what seemed like afk, rushed me, then bowed. Its like bowing has become a habbit not a gesture of respect. Bowing during duels is different, its like sparring matches in martial arts, but normal invasions aren't duels. I can understand someone putting up a good fight and you bowing as in saying "good game" but if you just ohko someone, or jump someone who's afk bowing is more of a taunt than gesture of respect.

I cant see how they were in the wrong here. If you are going to go AFK then you should have turned off your game, even if you were only bluffing for study.

Personally I would have warped out the first time, but if I came back and saw you there I would have killed you. Why? Because you are wasting my time. and if you are afk you should be either hollow or offline.

The fact that they killed you and came back and saw you alive again probably means he knew the gig was up. I have tried to stand around waiting for afk host to come around only to be BS'd by a hornet sunbro while I let my guard down and you know what the two of them did? they bowed.

Way I see it you invite danger by being online, bowing is no more reflexive than saying GG after a regular fight or a fight where you creamed the oposition. Its all perspective

When someone bows to you, then you bow back and get hornet BS while doing it, you know bowing has gotten sour.

Just one reason why im reducing my playtime a lot now.

shockingly, yes. The only time I ever play now is for Coop request, Fight club and other events put on by the forum. I need something different after playing Dark souls solidly for over 5 months silly

For whoever asked I was alone, but I understand the phantom thing. I've had that happen to me before.

Personally when I truly find someone afk I mess with them. I like moving their character with kicks into a different area or beating them to a sliver of heath with my fists. I found a guy afk in the painted world and surrounded him with prism stones, then made a trail of them through the level leading to an item.

yeh i asked ...the reason they all bowled was coz u were on yr own most invaders invade a farmer and a 1v1er is respected by most unless they use cheap techniques so if u dont they bow... with the bs maby u leave yourself too open

I love messing with people when they're AFK. One time with Prism stones I actually spelled "Tolvo" in the Painted world in front of a duellist who had to go AFK. I made a ring around the arena and then surrounded her with stones. She got back as I was placing some and she rolled back and charged with her, weapon, then stopped. She looked around, then prostrated at me, and I bowed in return. She equipped Smough's hammer, so I did the same and we had a great fight. I invaded her around ten times, at one point protecting her when she had to go AFK. I tried to talk with her, but she only had a small grasp of English and I know no Japanese. I remember at one point she was AFK and I was placing prisms up the steps when someone invaded. I ran to get to her to see them charging through to kill her, and lept from the stairs with Smough's landing a jumping attack and killing them instantly, a glass cannon I imagine as they were a Darkmoon. Great times all around.

In reality if you go afk and get killed then you can't complain. I usually invade via cracked red eye orbs so I can also be in another covenant, so if I invade someone who's afk I still kill them or I've wasted my orb. Sometimes I'll give them a minute or so to come back, but if it's longer than that they die.

I've kicked people into the fire in the Parish, kicked them off ledges, throw dung at them, etc.. If only I could find a way to curse them. Maybe if I catch one in the depths near a drop hole I can kick them into the basilisk area happy. Cold, but you shouldn't be going afk in an online game when it takes about 3 seconds to bring up the menu and quit.
