Even better, I just got my copy of the Madoka Magica movie blu-rays. Expensive, but I love madoka.Serious_Much wrote:So I watched the first episode of Kino's Journey. Thought it was great. It's a very interesting and thought provoking episode. Looking forward to the rest of the series now (shame it's only 13 episodes long)
They've made movies along with the TV series. I've not seen them myself but I've read there's supposed to be 3 total, with the first 2 covering the same stuff as the series while the third expands a bit further on the story.Serious_Much wrote:paying for tv series?
lololololololololol
If you've heard things, I can say you won't be. I'd heard things. I was surprised at how much better than my expectations it was, and that was after my expectations had been set ridiculously high by what I'd heard.Serious_Much wrote:never watched madoka.. it's one of those things i've heard too much about so i know ill get disappointed
Whether you like it or not, you can't deny it's a landmark in anime history.Serious_Much wrote:Did I mention I despise evangelion? haha
nothing against it's meaning, but I hate mecha with a massive passion
You don't consider Walpurgis a mech?Reaperfan wrote:Whether you like it or not, you can't deny it's a landmark in anime history.Serious_Much wrote:Did I mention I despise evangelion? haha

It's also one of the few examples of a deconstruction series done perfectly. I relate to the mecha-hate, but the main reason I like Evangelion is because of just how much it trashes on the mech genre.
Again, if all you're worried about is that you'll be disappointed, don't be. Madoka Magica is something you need to at least try. The worst that'll happen is that you're right and you just stop watching and chock it up to "over-hyped." Or it could prove you wrong.
One thing I can guarantee you...there's no mechs in it
Not enough to make the series a mech series. It's just a bad guy who's quirk that sets it apart from the other bad guys happens to be that it's mechnicalSoul of Stray Demon wrote:You don't consider Walpurgis a mech?
And perfect deconstruction, School Days, it does the harem genre shame, but yet something of pride.
