It's mostly right. You skipped a couple things in the last stanza but other than that it's right. It's "for in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil." I study Shakespeare.

Anybody else watch the meteor shower tonight? Really amazing show. Best one I've ever seen. My friend and I hiked up to a place called Table Rocks. It's like the spot all the young kids go to to smoke pot and mess around. Big huge hill with flat rocks and no trees and a sheer cliff on one side that overlooks the whole city. I brought the dog and we just laid and watched the sky. Really incredible. I've never seen one so active before. Probably saw 14 or 15 within like a 2 minute period at one point. Apparently it's going on tomorrow night too, so check it out if you missed it tonight.

Damn, I didn't even know about it. I'll try and catch it tomorrow night.

According to the internets every August the Earth passes through a debris field. caused by a comet that I guess however many hundreds of years ago crashed through a load of celestial bodies and left all the debris, and so every August we get this amazing meteor shower as we pass through it and pieces of the debris enter our atmosphere. According to the same NASA page it's supposed to be extraordinarily spectacular this year though because the area we're passing through has a really dense concentration of the debris. I can vouch for it. Tonight was truly incredible. I've never seen so many shooting stars at once in my life. I watched Halley's Comet and the meteor shower that followed the last time it was visible from a plateau near the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and the sky was just intense, so amazingly visible because there were no lights anywhere near us, and I have to say I saw a more impressive show tonight on a hill right in my city because of the sheer volume of shooting stars. Really great stuff. Totally worth taking a hike to a spot without city lights to view it tomorrow. It's supposed to be the most active towards early morning I think. I know tonight we went out around 11 and it didn't get really really active until maybe quarter after 2.


I wouldn't have known either if not for my friend. She's really into this stuff and posted on facebook that she was going out, I saw it, and so I went too. See, facebook does occasionally have its uses.

They were doing a live stream of the shower at the NASA site I went to for information about it if you want to check it out sooner. Not sure if they still are. Not sure where in the world they were so it might be day there now. Won't know unless you check it out I guess.

Here's the site It's called the Perseid Meteor Shower I guess. The site says it's going on both tomorrow night and the next too. Get out there and see an amazing natural show guys. I promise you won't regret it.

It's usually pretty awesome. The last couple years I've lived in town and the street lights make it a pain. My mom was big on these so I've looked for them most years of my life. It's always worth it.

Two tips:
If you have an android device and aren't sure where to look, get the sky map app. There's a search function, type in perseid and it will guide you to the right spot.

If you're ok with cooler temps, in November sometimes the leonids are really active. With the different atmospheric conditions these can be sweet too.

That's funny, I actually tried to use sky viewer to figure out what direction to look in last night, but it was before I'd looked up what they were called, or knew that they even had a name, so I was just kinda walking around in circles with it looking up in the air and making myself dizzy.

Sky map is awesome. I'd have generally no clue where to look on my own. Just plug it in and follow the arrows to coolness. It's also insanely accurate for a layperson.

It really is a cool program. Even when there's nothing amazing to be looking at. Just a cool idea implemented really well. I always like to use it to look for visible planets and constellations when I go out to smoke. Evidently Jupiter and I think Venus? are visible during these meteor showers too. We saw one of them pretty clearly last night. Not entirely sure which though.

You're too hard on yourself man. I didn't read it that way.

Serious you have very strong views about everyone being allowed to voice your opinion, feel a bit guilty but don't blame yourself entirely.  I feel a bit guilty for being a bit too harsh in the thread as well, I think some of my harshness was justifiable but I could have gone about it better.  Maybe we can one day return to the subject, maybe we won't.  Still I'm glad we did get to discuss what we did in that thread for how long it lasted, while I knew a deal about the subject I was still learning within it, reading more articles while discussing than normal, and hearing the perspectives of more people.
