I would really like to know the true difference in being Hollow or Human. I heard that if your Human you get higher drop chances while others say this is false. I don't care for people invading me so i would like to stay Hollow if possible. Can someone enlighten me on the big differences and i could make the choice myself on if it's worth it or not. Thanks

Re: Hollow vs. Human
Human:
Can summon phantoms
Can be invaded by phantoms
Can invade worlds
Can kindle bonfires
Hollow:
Cannot summon phantoms
Cannot be invaded by phantoms
Cannot invade worlds(except through the forest covenant ring)
Cannot kindle bonfires
The only thing that affects drop chance is how many humanity you have in your meter(and the gold serpent ring). Whether you have 10 humanity as a human or a hollow the drop chance will be the same.

Re: Hollow vs. Human
You can also invade people as a Hollow if you are part of the Darkmoon Blades and use the Blue Eye Orb / Darkmoon Blade Covenant Ring. However you can only invade people who have sinned.

You don't get extra powers from being human?

Re: Hollow vs. Human
From what I've seen having more humanity in your meter also raises your curse resistance, physical defenses and other things as well. At least that's what I've noticed after popping humanity and going to my stats screen.
Whoops, Just noticed I failed to mention about being human. Everything about it has been said already, Just makes the game more fun/difficult really.

Re: Hollow vs. Human
Humanity up to 10 increases drop rate and some weapons scale of it.
Main thing on not being human is you'll miss out on some NPC invasions and miss unique drops, like kirk, man eater fred etc.

Re: Hollow vs. Human
Symbol of avarice affects drop chance as well, along with the amount of souls(the latter also stacks with CSSR)LunarFog wrote:The only thing that affects drop chance is how many humanity you have in your meter(and the gold serpent ring). As the OP's question, apart from phantom related stuff and kindling bonfires, being human doesn't grant you any other power.
However, soft humanity in your counter increases item discovery (by up to 110 at 10 humanity, along with the default 100), and your curse resistance (by up to 120 at 30 humanity)
