Edit: Yeah, I just looked it up. Run DMC and Aerosmith was 1986, while Public Enemy and Anthrax was 87. But I guess a travesty is a travesty regardless.
Edit Edit: I hadn't watched your second video yet. I agree, Rage is probably the only hybrid that I've ever listened to and gleaned any enjoyment from at all
I declare you badass and flex at you.
1 for appreciating "Bring tha Noise"...
2 for even remembering "Walk this Way" (1st song I ever learned on the drums), and...
3 for saying what you said about Rage. I remember when a buddy put the CD in I thought, "Oh *** this rap ****!"....then an hour later we were figuring out which songs we wanted to cover and who the hell was gonna sing em lol.
Also, I'm not sure if I flexed right, in which case I now give you the "rock on/devil horn" hand gesture.

Re: The Metal thread.
Yeah, that was actually kinda my first reaction to Rage too, but then I moved in with a friend of mine who I really respect, and he used to listen to it sometimes, so I gave it another chance and ended up liking it.
The first album I ever bought was a cassette of Permanent Vacation. Then Master of Puppets, then Seasons in the Abyss, and it was all down hill from there

Re: The Metal thread.
These are 3 songs I played in a metal band when I was about 13, 14. These songs might be waaay more special to me than to any of you lol. Just thought I'd share.
I'm a drummer, so easiest to hardest for me.
then,
then of course the one i dreamnt about...
We *** rocked too man. My dad (the professional musician) would bring his friends over to listen to us. They'd all say,
"I hate your music, but you guys are so good for being just kids." That use to piss us off lol. We also played,
Holy Wars (Megadeath), Fade to Black (Metallica), and a couple others I cant remember... I've drank since then :drunken:

Sorry man. I hate power metal. Even when it's meant to be humorous.
^ Dead Skin Mask is an awesome song. Awesome. I was a metal band too actually. When I was in high school and into the beginning of college. We started as punk, then graduated into metal, and then they started getting into emo and I quit.
Sort of in a quasi-metal band now, but we only get together very sporadically. We're trying to put a show together in the Bronx this spring

Not bad. Not bad. Is that about Susan Delgado? I must respect the power metal. As such I bring you an offering. References earlier....A Change of Seasons

Re: The Metal thread.
I understand its appeal but its just never been my thing. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80s when every single hair metal/rock band had vocals like power metal vocals. I just can't keep the comparison out of my head when I hear it

Re: The Metal thread.
Bingo, Skare. Dark Tower was an aweseome series. In fact, the vocalist, Jens Carlsson, makes a lot of references to the Dark Tower series in his songs. In the band Demon's and Wizards, there is a song about Bob(?) the Riddle Train. Remember that thing? So Epic.
WHY DID THE DEAD BABY CROSS THE ROAD?
IT CAN'T BECAUSE IT'S *** DEAD!!
Once again, I can respect that, plastic. I can also see your point of view. I can imagine it lol.

Plastic that's a comparison that's often valid. I like some power metal but a lot feels Crueish to me. Meh
Dark Tower series.... best series ever. I will flex to prove how supreme it is

Ya 2 or 3 bands for me too bud. One I was in was with a (%$#@ing brilliant) bass player/writer...aaaaand....his wife...the (not so $#@%ing brilliant) singer. God she was awful. Reminded me of John and Yoko actually lol. She was a ***** too. I'm sure you can imagine how that went.
If you get a gig in the bronx, I'd like to see that if you tape it. Btw what do you play?

Re: The Metal thread.
I do vocals, well I used to do vocals, now I just growl really deeply. The current band is kind of a complicated concept, and if you ever end up seeing/hearing it and I've already explained it than it'd have ruined it for you. It's not really a traditional metal band, or a traditional band for that matter. My old band was though. Our guitarist was the brains behind it, and he was pretty talented in his own way. I just don't understand the whole emo thing. I like some Thursday, but he was way deeper into it than that.

Re: The Metal thread.
@Plastic
Oh idk bro. My taste is quite vast, and very much not traditional lol. I was a rodie at age 10. My parents practically met on stage. As a matter of fact, I was on stage before I was born.
My dad plays for his "fun money". Mostly in cover rock/country bands. He did pretty well with a polka band too once. I've filled in for him before and have had my own "unique" musicianly experiences.
My favorite band is Primus. Hands down. They even do METAL

I would down vote you for saying polka but I have a very Polish last name so I must instead reference our beloved Chicken Dance. I shared the first song my wife and I danced to at our reception

Re: The Metal thread.
@ Animaaal: I'll see if I can find my copy of our demo. It won't make as much sense unless you actually see us play though, which I don't have a video of. I'm sure I will after our next show happens. We didn't have all our instruments built when we did the last one so it wasn't as worth recording as this one will be
