My first (and only) post was a graph in which the x axis was labeled "Effectiveness" and the y axis was labeled "Popularity."

You can take that and start your thread. I'm sure the Pantheon would find it amusing and you'd get basically the same result.

This may be more accurate. The majority of the Dark Souls population will use the most effective items, creating an extreme lack of diversity.

To be fair this would be the most accurate



Seemingly useless items (like I'm currently arguing against in the general section) would still see an occasional user, so therefore never get to 0. Additionally, there would always be a segment of the population that would avoid the super popular items or tactics. So even a 100% success rate weapon/tactic would never reach total usage. I also added a sharper rise in usage toward the upper end of effectiveness. For example, going from a broken sword to a Longsword (for PvP sl120) purposes would be more effective but not see a direct increase in usage. As we can see from anecdotal evidence, the +15 variants are the major upswing.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen a broken sword in pvp, or a heavy crossbow.. I think there are some which we can say aren't used, simply because there are identical but better weapons available.

All it would take is for one person to try it even once, even as a joke or experiment to make 0 an impossibility (very very close to zero, limits and such for the calculus inclined). I've used a broken sword in PvP before to mess around. I've also used (like I said in the joke thread I made) that I fought someone with a broken trident that I didn't have the stats for. I have video proof of that one. I would have to compare actual damage outputs but I believe both were similar. So just me means weapons won't ever reach 0. You could also argue that the bare knuckle guy I fought doing no discernible damage to me also is the least effective possible weapon. I've fought naked people before so that means armor will never reach 0 since that's the least effective. I've done plenty of battles without magic types (0 effectiveness for that game mechanic yet above 0 usage). As for tactics, we've all killed AFK guys probably meaning there's evidence of tactics also having a 0 effectiveness yet some use example.
