As far as I know, the only downside from a host perspective is summoning help would be harder. I've invaded a good amount of maxed characters as a Cat Bro from sl100 or so on up

I'd like to have a character that has all the items in the game and enough stats to use them all so I don't have to make a new character everytime I want to try out a build.
Plus, I'd love to be overleveled for all those forest guys. Give em a surprise <3

Lol. Some extra levels can't hurt. Swap between two Grants and a talisman and catalyst combo. For white dragon meth and sunlight spear. That could be a surprise

I have a level 408 I would use in the forest. I'd also get some invasions myself( I was a CatBro)... but not as much.
I want to clear DkS again though, so I can Darkwraith there and see who's higher levels easier.

For that matter there's no actual need to go above 120, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. If you're going to host in the forest gank-free why the hell not?
It's not as much an advantage as some of you may think. In the forest my 400+ usually get invaded by 120s, and a 120 can do most anything I can do, except switch their 'build' out at a whim. Having a supertoon is basically like having a 120 with an extra ring slot. Maybe more comparable to a 200, actually.
Personally, I use my 465 (and climbing) about the same as I do my 200, except minus the buffs (unless my opponent does), which makes it feel like somewhere between 120 and 200. The difference is that my 1800 hp doesn't need the FaP ring on my 465.
Now in the Arena the high level duels are pretty outrageous. Spells flying all over the damned place. Guys with a Crystal Cat in one hand and a Darkmoon Talisman in the other, or with 120 poise, an ultragreatsword in one slot and a Rapier in the other, and a half dozen Sunlight Blades to spare. Unfortunately they also have the Coward's Crystal. Stupidest idea Fromsoft ever had.

I think lower levels get priority though, so you might end up waiting for a while. I usually only invade upper levels after a long wait, so I think it looks for people closer to your level first.

From what I've seen from invading at SL270 your not going to get invasions as often. It make sense to me your more overleveled and have a large advantage over your opponents in a 1v1.
Which still doesn't make much sense seeing as you get a 1v1 once out of every ten invasions.
