    Level 1 Forest.

Post by Jansports on Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:41 pm

Hello everyone! Over the holidays a few of my friends got Dark souls, so we've been at it, I was showing them some weirdness and coolness (10 minutes gargoyles, 50str 50 fai super hypermode damage ect.) One of the things I showed them was PvP, another a few bosses on an SL1 NG+ challenge. (Don't worry they've each gotten to NG+ themselves so I didn't spoil anything major)

But then my one friend whos been a big fan of Forest PvP (Really manners, he summons me or vice versa and we wait for 2v2s) Challenged me to make a Forest hunter at SL1....

That's what I'm working with, though I think I might be better off swaping to the Crossbow and using the heavier Reinforce Club.

The major problem however is, well I've never played at such low health. I've almost entirely avoided glass cannon builds. So I'm kinda flailing helplessly in fights. I was thinking my health is low enough anyways that I might as well go in Hypermode engaged.

Another issue I'm having is I can't reasonably trade with aanything, so almost all of my damage is BS/Riposte or GFBs, is there anyway I could get more mileage out of hitting stuff without fear of eating my health bar in trades?

Well since thats a level one build, its really limited in what weapons it can use. So all of the weapons it can use have bad range and few usable attacks. The forest would be a very difficult place for that character, with the majority of the players there having much better options than you, the highest leveled area I'd suggest is sen's fortress and even that area is a stretch. You really can't avoid problems like low health and the inability to trade with much, comes with the territory of being lvl1. The only way I win with my lvl1 (which is very similar to yours lol) is when I just generally outplay my opponent, mostly with mind games or pressuring them to give me a bs.

But it would be a glass cannon. Also, you can change the bellowing ring for the hornet's.

Oh, you can use chaos cestus (very weak, but it allows for hit and run tactics) and the jagged ghost blade (235 AR).

Yeah I was thinking of trying Hypermode Tempest or even super hypermode tempest. I'm just not getting many kills with Lightning Axe

The defenses are good, and the poise is nice, but I would rather not give up the Crown (it helps the damage from 90% of my kills)

At such low level the crown is a heavy double edge sword you are better off winning by using superior tactics and the Axe can stun lock like a beast, but I understand.

    Proper Bow

I *Should* be winning with tactics and grace. But the forest is a nasty place, Tempest and GC are pretty much how I play.

I don't think to downside is too bad either, Bead, GFB, GC A decent Fai WoG all one shot me with or without the crown.
