If Gwyn Had An Intro..

I like the fact that he doesn't get an intro. A once great hero, now reduced to nothing. It makes the whole thing seem more tragic.

I am kind of torn on this idea.
On the one hand it would nice to add some to his character, if we knew he was not just "standing there" waiting for the next challenger.

But on the other hand, at this point you know the story (if you been talkin to NPCs that is).

I would like to have seen at the minimum, A slow pan across Gwyn's face.
Is he sad? Is he mad? Is he dead eyed? Is he glad the player is finally here? Does he know what is going on? Does he care? Does he want to be killed? Is he still holding to the his honor and guarding the flame? Or is he just on "auto pilot"?

I always assumed he was on auto-pilot, i.e. he went hollow.

He does have an entrance.
He takes 4 steps towards you, while walking.
THEN he aggro's.

He HAS AN INTRO. It's called:

''Tripel Combo of YOU DIED.''

Start with a reflection of the dying ember in his eye, pan out to see him just staring at the flame, all hollow-like, then maybe it ends with him turning his head to the fog gate as you emerge from it.

Something simple like that would fit really well, especially if it also had a musical intro that lead to Gwyn's awesome theme.

Intro...?
The player enters and sees a spark of flame in the distance. As your character takes a step forward, he/she notices something and backs off. The flame reveals that it is being wielded by the hollowed Gwyn as he stares at you. A moment passes, to take into the account Gwyn's hollowed form, then he takes a step forward as the battle begins...

I always thought his intro was the parried and riposted animation.

As you pass through the final fog wall, nerves on edge, you look around and see ... ashes. Nothing but ashes. Slowly walking to the bonfire, a shape is forming. A column of ash and embers swirling around a a vaguely human figure. As you watch, the rotating pillar begins to collapse upon itself. Suddenly it implodes! You're knocked off your feet. Looking up, you see him. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder. He looks you directly in the eye and you look into his. You can see regret, sadness. He knows why you're here. To kill him. He turns to walk away. He looks over his shoulder one last time you see something in his face. An emotion that is all but lost in Lordran. Hope. Hope that you will link the fire. Hope that you will not be the vanguard of the Dark. Hope...that he can finally rest.

You pierce the final barrier that lies between you and your destiny, There before you sits a solitary figure, ensconced in the dying light of the first flame. He sits slumped with his back facing you. The charred crown that rests upon his brow moves only slightly as he turns his head as if he is only vaguely aware of your unwanted presence. A hand reaches out from under the mantle of fur that falls down from his shoulders. It clutches the hilt of a sword, the symbol of his rule, and pulls it from the drifts of ash that have accumulated around him. Leaning heavily on the blade, the once mighty lord of the gods rises to his feet, ash tumbling down from his still mighty frame. There is a hint of lighting dancing through his dark soulless eyes as he stares menacingly through you. He raises his blade and it is engulfed in a furious fire. He takes three slow steps towards you. Then in a sudden burst of rage, he breaks his slow stride and charges. There will be no mercy for the chosen undead.

his intro is the same intro of the first firelink hollow when he aggro. there is no difference between them. Except Gwyn soul is bigger.

I agree with Sloth9230, makes the game even better.

I'm going to have to agree with most people here, the fact that he doesn't have an intro makes the fight much more tragic in a way. I think that would be the best way to end Dark Souls on a tragic note rather than on some epic one that differs completely from the rest of the game since most of the game has a dark and depressive feel to it.
