    Whips need a buff

    they are not horrible but they would need a speed buff and a follow up to light attack. they are fun though silly

    You should consider cosplaying as Indiana Jones. Whip in the right hand, left hand empty for punching Nazi's in the face!

    On topic I think maybe speed is ok but a bit more of damage or chance to stun because when your a phantom the host can simply heal and you can't even backstab him

    add a garroting back stab. a parry can have you flick the whip around an enemys neck and pull strangaling them and tearing their windpipe. also high stun capability as that is what whips are good at in the real world.

    I always liked the whips. I think it would be really cool in the next Souls Game, if there is one (knock on wood), if they had disarms via whip weapons. Also a dodge-type thing kind of like parrying would be cool. Say, hit the triangle button just as a swing is about to connect, and duck under it. Dunno how disarms would work, but that would be really cool. Like, throw the weapon a few feet away from the host, and if he picks it up it goes into the slot it was in before.

    On topic, I do wish you could backstab with the whip. Wrapping it around a guys neck for critical damage would be really cool. I've only used the notched whip, and only in undead burg at a low level. But still, it was fun. Didn't win a single match using it, but hey, I tried!

    i've fought some pretty decent PvPers who used the notched whip in their off-hand and another bleed weapon in their right. the bleed damage is dangerous with a solid hit...

    totally true, riposte or backstabs for whips should be like one of those grab attacks from enemies in pve in which you could strangle the player and his health would go down gradually.

    The disarm idea is not only awesome but fairly logical, I would make the riposte animation like this:

    You tangle up the opponents hands together and then bash his face in with his own two hands and whichever weapon he is holding.

    I like the disarm! Their weapon could either go on the ground as loot and they have to pick it back up (only they can pick it up, otherwise you'd have people getting their rare weapons stolen!), or it could just be unequipped, then they have to go through their inventory and equip their weapon again. Disarm could simply be the whip's parry (then you can't riposte, but you have an enemy with no weapon who has to go through his inventory; should give you the chance for a few hits!)

    I don't think whips need to be "buffed" so much as they need a new moveset from the ground up. You'd think a whip would have some range, and timing in their attacks. As it is, their move set just looks like From pieced it together using moves from other weapons. Like the 2H R2, taken directly from the Uchi! (Not to mention it's one of the least useful moves in the game!)

    What happens when the disarmed guy dies 2 seconds after you disarm him? His +15 weapon is now a vagrant? Dont think ppl would like that, but blaines idea of unequiping it might work.

    I wouldn't like that very much. I'd prefer some sort of trip attack as opposed to an attack that magically puts your opponents weapon back in their backpack.

    Shh, the disarm move actually wouldn't be a big deal, but don't tell anyone. winking

    All you have to do is keep your inventory organised, and equipping a weapon during a fight isn't a big deal at all. But most people wouldn't do that.

    Heh, yeah, it wouldn't be bad at all. Even if you don't keep your inventory organized, you usually automatically go to whatever item you had equipped last.

    The whip could potentially put it back in a different place/order...but I don't know, it just seems to be getting a bit too meta at that point.

    But yeah, I always 'change order', it can save your life! And just be really convenient...

    I always thought it would be reasonable to:

    1. Make the whip's heavy attack(or light) bypass shields.

    2. Make their backstabs and ripostes a grapple-type ability like the maneater chests/ents/manserpents/a few other monsters have.
