I have a ton of ideas flying through my head, both good and bad.
I truly hope they don't try to mainstream dark souls in an attempt to make it like the elder scrolls series, Jesus I pray that that isn't shibuyas goal.
Anywho, there's a few things I think are happening here. First thing is that this installment will still take place after the fall of the dragons. I know a dragon looking alot like kalameet is shown and some speculate that this would mean that DkS2 takes place during the war against the dragons, but I'm not leaning that way. The skeletal form of the dragon in the trailer points to their fall already.
We also see our hero walking across the bridge at the start of the painted world and this leads me to speculate that the painted world is going to play a bigger role. Maybe velka will be manipulating some things, maybe we'll learn more about Priscillas passed, maybe ariamis is revealed in a more fleshed out sense! These are all possibilities that strike with an air surety for why else would the bridge be shown?
This brings me to the masked individuals. At first I was thinking that they could be part of ciarans assassins, but then I remembered that she's the only one that wears the ceramic mask so then I moved to the painted guardians. This is holding onto the idea that ariamis' world is the focal land and maybe these masked individuals are the predecessors of that guardian force.
I've heard some speculate that the woman in the trailer could be velka, but I lean towards ENB with this one. She looks far too common and apprehensive, not very god-like.
