I was once a teen. My advice: don't listen to anything teenagers say.

Re: Brony Thread
I think it should be clear by now that Bronies are a very varied group of people of all races and creeds from all corners of the world with many different interests.
They happen to share the MLP: FiM interest but that is only one thing in a Brony's life. Honestly, I think there are some people who spend more time questioning/hating on the Bronies than the Bronies themselves actually spend with the show.

You got the right Idea.
And this is why certain haters crack me up so much .
Have you ever heard about this whole thing about Derpy ? Pretty hilarious if you ask me

Re: Brony Thread
The derpy thing was legitimate, since derpy is a very offensive word for a mentally handicapped person. Funny behind closed doors, but when autistic people are getting laughed at and pointed at by people and called derpy, it's gone too far.

We had a big talk over the Derpy "issue" not too long ago on here. Needless to say, it was a pretty touchy issue.
Talk to Reaper about it - he had a lot to say on the topic.

Re: Brony Thread
Thats just it .
People are reading far too much into it .
It was nothing but a big nod to the Fandom, and surely not intended to offend .
People just want to get offended , its ridicoulus .

That's what the defenders say: it was just a nod to the fandom. The detractors say what Tolvo was saying.

Re: Brony Thread
When in public with a friend of mine, who is autistic, he will sometimes get too excited. When this happens he twitches and crosses his eyes. I can't tell you how many times people have pointed at him, laughed, and yelled "It's derpy hooves!" It's very offensive and I expect more of people.

Are you sure they were all Bronies or just your everyday, run-of-the-mill jerkwad?

Column A, Column B. They knew of Derpy Hooves, and I asked the one who yelled it on one occasion and they admitted they liked the show. They said it was just all in good fun. Meanwhile I had to explain to my friend that he wasn't a freak, and that his twitching wasn't that bad and people wouldn't notice it. Perhaps I'm too kind to people who were born with some sort of deficit, who knows.

Re: Brony Thread
I have a mentally handicaped Cousin so i know what i am talking about .
I wasn't offended at the slightest .
Its not The Authors fault , he/she just wanted to express their apreciation to the fandom .
Tolvo, they would make fun of your friend with or without Derpy, because those People are trash .
Theres no point in giving the blame to an Author of an Cartoon , those People have decided to insult you Friend , not the Author .

My dream would be for a world where people don't have to live with such trying everyday challenges.
It saddens me so.

Derpy is a word that refers to something in an embarrassing, clumsy, or whimsical way. It insinuates a mistake on the end of the person being derpy. He isn't an MLP fan, he doesn't know it is a word those fans use.
I don't see them trying to make a character in a family cartoon named "Retard Ralph."

Can we please just drop it?
I'm not comfortable defending Derpy but I also don't think she was a malicious insertion into the show to ridicule the mentally disabled.

Why would you think that ? You did what every sane man would do in your Place .
It was ruthless of them and they said didnt meant it in ill will .
I hope they know it better now
Now i understand your pov on this matter .
I wouldnt know what i would do if someone would insult my cousin though

Re: Brony Thread
I wasn't saying it was malicious intent, but just that understandably on a family TV it's something that really shouldn't be there. Younger people will use the word then, and they'll probably not have the proper judgement to know when not to use it.
Hopefully comfort him, don't get me wrong I'll sometimes tease my friend since that's what friends do. But there is always that line.

Those words wil always exist . When this "Your Moma" thing got to my country everyone started to make up rhymes insulting the other ones Mom (obviously) .
I had a classmate who lost his mom when he was small and this thing hit him really hard . Someone even did this to him and they got in a huge fight . But they became the best friends later on ^^
Children are cruel and they need to experience themselfes when to use a word or not .

I'd just rather that people don't suffer for it, especially those who have some sort of mental defect that would cause them to not understand.

Of couse we want to protect our loved ones .
But we cant, many People dont know how to act around handicapped persons . And will say stupid things trying to comprehend the situation .
It really is a tough topic and difficult to understand for others .
All we can do is learn from our mistakes and move on .

Umm... I have nothing to contribute to this conversation, except the suggestion that all of you drop the topic because it isn't really getting anyone anywhere.
So, now that we have lots of new blood in the thread... Who is best character?
