Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I hate many things... but those hates are easily avoidable, and uncommon... except for flipping heavy armored beings. Their is no realistic reason why I should see a fat golden man flipping around. If he was playing beside me, I would smash his skull with my control, and then use his control when my snaps. Hell, I'll just use his controller, since I want mine to be spared.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
It was brought up to me that backstabbing was the most griped about thing during PvP. I just want to see what is actually the most hated. These are some common things I see people complain about.
I'm curious though, if not listed what do you despise most in pvp?

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
What do Despise the most? Out of the magic spammers, low level Darkwraiths, glitching back stabbers, people who kill during bow, people who flip with heavy armor with no precaution of danger... Out of all the things, what annoys me about PvP the most?
It is not of combat, more so of lacking it. Gravelording. Great idea, but I have to start as a low level to even draw attention and NOT use my hammer I cherish, as other weapons are either to awkward, their moveset sucks, or they just are plain wrong. Waiting for players that can freely ignore it and leave the area, no notification that others are actually infected, and the only greetings being the same Darkwraiths, with no restrictions other than the Minimum Level, and attack with lightning weapons or armor I can not claim, or lose many areas to infect? Higher levels Is a larger bargain, as I guess many either quit, leave the area, or do something that ignores th BPs, and my Gravelord Sign. My love goes to the covenant, but it has an even harder time than the Dragon Covenant, which I had over a dozen PvP encounters with the dragons, and the Gravelord PvP is even less. It needs a fix. It definitely needs a fix. It's function calls for me, the plaguing and drawing for combat... But too Many flaws make me not even try the PvP aspect of it as much anymore. Once you past level 120, the covenant becomes almost useless, and have found no one with my Lvl 180, which I have not gone higher do to the inferior PvP.
Sigh

This is not the first thread/poll in this area, a search might be a good thing todo before posting...
Anyway if you look the the link below, which is to the official forums youll see that the top issues the community wants to see fixed in a potential 1.6 patch is related to BS issues.

Acidic, at that level is best to go to the forest and gravelord. I do it with my sl 211. But he is full of sin and I get some DMBs who don't care about my truce with the forest hunters...
@ TS.
Im not a person that complain so much about PvP The lag to me is the most annoying thing all the other stuff is part of the game IMO. So I voted for other.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I voted "other." The most annoying thing to me are the people who insist on playing a game with loaded dice and calling it skill... The game has flaws and exploits, like any game does, and that's nothing worth writing home about. But what's annoying as **** are the folks who, for whatever reason, run their mouths like the flaws and exploits are worth defending.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
@eneq I'm well aware of the many requests for new patches and many people want to change the parameters of backstabs. I can assure you that those will not fix the ability to preform a pivot backstab, a chain backstab or a backstab while lagging. It will simple make backstabs a bit harder to land when done in a non "cheap" way. The problem will still exist.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
Hmm, not sure about that. To me it seems atleast like chain bs would be gone due to invulnaribility after recovery roll.
And I have nothing against BS in itself, its a cool tachnique although a bit overpowered.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
The overpowered comes from the intended cost of preforming a bs.
I'm not sure if things were overlooked by the designers of the game but I don't feel it was never intended for players to wear heavy armor, the DWGR and Hornet ring, wielding massive weapons. Those people in my opinion abuse the parameters of the game. A real bs build is a theif type. Using light/no armor w/ a dagger or rapier. Their character made to execute nothing but critical hits effectively. Not a BKGA wielding tank who uses pivot stabs. The problem isn't within backstabbing itself, but with people using various parts of the game to their advantage and to the point of abuse.

A max-equip load for the hornet/DWGR might fix that. Or maybe the hornet ring bonus is 60% - equip weight. Granted the light-armor types would be *** ninja, but it would probably do more good than harm.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I agree the whole DWGR/Hornet/Poise issue is a big one but what happens if you remove that? There would be no point in wearing heavy armor at all and the scene would imo detoriate to a lot of people in ninja suits flipping around fishing for BS.
You would have to compensate the Heavy armor guys with something to make their playstyle viable, one thing would for instance be to reduce BS damage with regards to poise.
But I dont think any of this will be adressed so its just something to live with and try to laugh at at times.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
There have been a million and one idea's proposed about the DWGR and how to "fix" it. My favorite is it lowers your roll class. Ie there's 4 burdens, <100%, <75%, <50% and <25%. The ring would put you one class lower. People with 100% burden move at 75%, and so on. People at 25% being the "fastest" would get the special roll animation and move slightly faster.
@eneq
Big weapon users (high poise str builds) have many options to defend against backstabs. In an ideal situation a tank and a bser would be evenly matched. The tank would attempt to stunlock and kill the bser in a few hits while the bser would attempt to dodge attacks and land a bs. Sadly this rarely ever exists. And I too doubt any issues will be addressed. Lets hope for a better next souls game.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I went with the low level builds/grievers, as they are the biggest turnoff when starting out, which is when the newer players (or newer toons) are least equipped to deal with PvP tactics and concepts, such as the various BS techniques, spacing, timing, gear and stat parameters, etc... The others are annoying but to my knowledge can be punished (with the exception of the gear abusers mentioned above and they are a close second, I'm firmly in the pary that a two handed weapon with fat armor does not allow for flipping, or at least it shouldn't).

Demon Spear Turtles are the worst of the worst. nothing is worse, hate them the most with a passion. if i see any one with a spear and shield, i instantly equip bandits and hornet ring because i don't have time for that ****.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I went with the flipping masked tanks. Though it's not so much that that bothers me, it's simply just the unoriginality. If a patch came out tomorrow that completely took out havel's set, giants set, darkwood grain ring, the family masks, black knight great axe, and the zweihander, I have no doubt in my mind there would be a LOT of truly lost players out there.
I just wish people were more original. Wear xanthous' set, or gwyndolins set, or a set you don't see every other time you interact with a phantom. I know many of them aren't so good as far as stats, but that's just more of an incentive to develop the skills as a player that these flipping tank bros don't have, or for whatever reason refuse to use.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
fight on narrow walkways and the tankish fools will still dodge. then lulz ensue. of course now most have wog in their back pocket for those situations. my response, magic stoneplate ring and crest shield. pvp has become an arms race with limited resources. thus it is that until the next annoying tactic is discovered we'll be plagued by incongruously mobile fattys.

Griefers and farmers annoy me the most. Not personally, just that they are actively making the community smaller and changing the game from 'prepare to die' to 'prepare to have the game handed to you because you can join a forum'

BB glitch grievers and farmers. I don't really hate them, and I think some parts of the game wouldn't be as much fun without them, but I completely disrespect them.

I voted backstabbing but not just in general, i just hate the hornet ring guys who circle you constantly, or go BS you while bowing and oneshot you with it. In my view takes the fun out of PvP (duels)
however after that i would say griefers/farmers, it annoys me when i get summoned by my soapstone to a 2v1 and they both bow like its honourable, give me a break.

Re: Most hated thing in PvP
I voted backstabbing, but not because of the mechanic itself. Because there are a huge number of PvP players that do not try and do anything else.
I'll BS if the opportunity presents itself, but dancing around in a circle fishing for nothing but backstabs is boring, very boring, and all too common.

The only thing I really dislike, not hate, is the farmers. Everything else is just people taking advantage of the tools they have at their discretion, but farmers are just making the game not fun for others.
