The real question, why was I studying Malaysian culture at all? By the way, I might be stopping by the linking internal and external lore thread soon...

Nice observation, Tolvo! Your knowledge has now officially blown my mind.Tolvo wrote:Well in note to relation to the knights, the Leg armor, and belly/back armor of this set resemble's Ornsteins in color and design. Also the daggers in hand are Kris, blades well known for their link to snakes and ancestral spirits and family names. They are mostly ceremonial, though also back in the day they could be used for combat. Interesting to note that it has barbs like teeth, as well with how they are held this weapon works in reverse compared to a normal dagger, the blade is within the arc of the weapon meaning it is designed to either stab, or swing and be dragged back across flesh. However the bards would make it less effective for piercing, so this weapon is not designed for fighting against armor. Instead it is designed for tearing apart flesh, in fact it would be incredibly devastating if this was stabbed into the body as the barbs point inwards like a harpoon. Meaning that this is for soft targets, to be stabbed in then pulled out for maximum effect. Meaning, critical attacks would be incredible with it...Similar to the hornet's ring. I believe this is our lost Knight.
+1 rep for you.
Man, I really should learn to pay close attention to those details.

At about, 59 seconds in, there are some statues. If you look closely they are wearing garments similar to dusk, as well carrying catalysts. Now this is safe to assume being Oolacile, but I just thought I should mention that these resemble branches. Other Catalysts in game are wooden, even one I can think of is designed like a tree branch. However it only splits at the tip, while Oolacile catalyst start the split about half way, meaning these are Oolacile sorcerers or perhaps even statues of dusk. The appear to be headless though.

Re: New Gamescom trailer!
If you look at the giant hand that grabs the knight and freeze it, you can clearly see it is a humanoid hand. As well it has fingernails, and the skin resembles the skin of the giants of Sen's Fortress. As well when it shows the player in Solaire's armor fighting the chained prisoner. It has similar skin too, and the noises it makes sound similar to the Sen's Giants when they are in combat. So, we might see where exactly these giants came from or what their relation is to the world in the past, before they seemingly went extinct.

I thought I heard that the hand belongs to the Evil Eye, what are your thoughts on this?

Yeah, I think Baal posted a high contrast photo suggesting the hand of the demon was the hand that transports you.

@Tolvo
Yeah, those are definitely Oolacile Ivory Catalyst. Also, for some reason, I think the clothing looks similar to what Gwyndolin wears...
I'm not sure about the giant though...
@Slarg232
For some reason, I'm starting to think that the Evil Eye demon is that demonic one eye black dragon. Then again, the thing lurking in the dark with a bunch of red eyes could also be the Evil Eye demon... who knows...

Re: New Gamescom trailer!
That beast attacked Astora is the question, perhaps through the abyss it attacked many places. Though why only one such target would be mentioned doesn't make sense to me. Interesting though that if you pay attention to the strange red eyed creature shown, it actually resembles the chaos spider halves of the chaos witches slightly. The eyes and design. The barbed kris, the cloth made like the Gold Hemmed robe. I think there are some relations to Izalith to be had here. Perhaps, we will see early demons and greation. If you notice the stone knights actually use an axe in a similar way to the Taurus demon, though that could be a cooincidence. More than likely just an animation thing, not a lore thing. Here is also a little bit of flavor. Gough's helm resembles a Silver Knight's helm, but he is much more broad than the other knights. He seems like something else, similar to Vamos. His head is smaller in comparison with the rest of him, like the giants. Meaning, since we can't see the perspective he could actually be a giant. He is also doing the work of a fletcher. He is sharpening a carving tool, meaning he is a craftsmen of sorts and more than likely created his own bows and arrows rather than being supplied with them. Thus, Gough could reasonably be an excellent hunter who knows how to live off the land. Not to mention, being a giant couldn't hurt. We see his knights using bows designed after his, but what would the greatest dragonslayer from range use? Bow the size of a giant, that could fire spears that not only wound dragons, but could kill them in one shot.

I was about to come up with some witty response about how being a giant would require an amount of food that would be quite simply ridiculous.
Then I realized that it is fairly likely that he is a demi-"god" / undead, and I felt like a fool.

Re: New Gamescom trailer!
I thought I should also mention, that dragon that is breathing fire in the trailer, isn't the one dragon we've seen before. It has four legs and two wings like a european dragon, but its head is different, more wide and bulky. It is actually a living version of the undead dragons we have seen so far if you check. So more than likely not a boss, just a difficult enemy.

Guys bad news, remember Ornstein's helmet? The red thingy on top of it, it doesn't appear when you equip it. I'm afraid the same is happening with Artorias' armor.

Most likely. It would be a tremendous effort to make it move with you, and it would just seem horrible for it to not move.
However, on the off chance that they DO spend the effort, it seems likely that they will add the plume to Ornstein's helm

Re: New Gamescom trailer!
It doesn't surprise me that Ciarans armor looks similar to Artorias's, cause they have always been linked in my mind. Mainly because you find the hornet ring behind Artorias's grave.

Re: New Gamescom trailer!
Also if you notice three resemblance is to Artorias' armor after he feel presumably. His looks aged and worn while Ciaran's is well kept like Ornstein's. So then, if you look at Artorias his armor appears to have once been silver or steel colored. Aaaaaaaand, notice the tatters of blue. There's a great deal different in each set of armor with just enough similarities to make them a "set."
