i need a new sword for my wanderer.

i was just wondering if someone could suggest a fast light sword. i have been using the drake sword but it just isn't cutting it anymore. thanks for any ideas you have!

Whats your strength and dexterity at? What sort of character do you plan to build?

hey thanks i plan to be addicted to this game for years to come so i thought i would join my SL is 76 and my stats break down like this.
str 34 and dex 22 i had a few drinks one night and spent the day of grinding getting my vit to 27 wasn't the best idea

hmm okay. With those stats, unless you're willing to put more points in dex, a STR related weapon would be better for you.

Such as: man serpent greatsword, Large Club, Zweihander, Mace, Club... Those are slow hitting weapons, but very strong.

However, if you want a fast hitting weapon and don't want to waste points in dextery, you can make elemental weapons: Lightning, fire or chaos.

Good elemental weapons: bastard sword, claymore, Longsword, Broadsword, katanas... They will have less damage than STR weapons but hits faster.

If you already cleared Sen fortress, grab the lightning spear (won't spoil how if you didn't) but don't upgrade it. Its certanly better than the drake sword. And once you reach Anor Londo, there is a crystal halberd for you to use while you make your permanent weapon. Do not upgrade the crystal halberd, it breaks easily and can not be repaired.

i still haven't found how to make the elemental weapons yet

i was trying to upgrade the scimitar fully and then magic enchant it but i'm still working on it and don't know if it would be a good idea

Well, you're a Wanderer, how about the Falchion?

Thats not a bad idea! You have some options:

Raise your dextery to 40, or at least 30 and make a +15 scimitar (A falchion has more range, and same moveset)

Raise your intelligence to 44, or at least 32. You can enchant the +15 scimitar with Crystal magic weapon and Great magic weapon. It will do far more damage than any elemental weapon, but temporarily! The Logan's catalyst and Crystal catalyst would be the best for you.

that will take some time, but don't worry. Until then, you can use those weapons I said before. By the way, when you get to the Dukes archives, there is a Enchanced Falchion. If you're going to put many points in Intelligence, be sure to grab it.

i'm starting to think i messed up another build ill pump dex if i need to speed is whats most important to me. i done even wear pants to keep my weight down. so i'm a speed character.

Depends. If you're not going for the standard 120 soul level for PVP, you can never mess up a build unless you put points in resistence

About the pants, if thats a female toon, I see absolutely no problem

should i really never put points into res? i have heard that before but it seems just wrong somehow.

Resistance doesn't really help with defense. After a while, attack overcomes defense way too easily, to the point where it's much better to put points into any other stat. Though, I guess someone said that someone did research in PvE and it still did good? Idk. He couldn't find the thread with the research..

Now, my BEST advice is to grab the Server, upgrade it to Fire, and start thwacking away. Great, great damage. That thing still does good to me after getting really, really far in-game.

The reason I say this is because I have almost the same stats as you, but with Int and Faith for buffs. Before I had those, I used my fire server. It's great. It really really is. In the big picture, it really seems like the best, least complicated way to get you a good weapon that just won't ever become useless.

hey thanks for replying. i actually was planing to use the server. but it's so slow, i have upgraded it a bit and am planing to keep upgrading it. it's +5 now.

newb question who upgrades to fire?

It seems slow, but does Ultra Sword/Hammer/Axe weapon damage, with closer speeds to a Great Sword. And it's angles are just great. And it has good reach. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc attacks are all faster than the first. Meaning doing heavy damage to a boss is easier since it still attacks fairly fast overall.

Plus, two handing it and doing a sprint attack is always fast. And the roll R1 attack is great for getting a new angle for getting around a certain enemy's shield. Idk if you've gotten that far, so I'm just trying to be vague haha!

There's a few good ways to simply getting around it's slightly slower speed. But with your stats, the best DPS you can get is the Server, without doing anything TOO complicated.

the second attacks speed up. i did not know that. seems like the strength of the wander is flurrying attacks so i will have to give the server more use. and yeah i do love it's reach.

just got the lord vessel so i'm pretty much on the way to the catacombs now. just upgrading a few things i have lots of loose ends to tie up i haven't even been to blight town. and i need a light spell.

Mk. Quick tip. Don't go to the ToG yet, but in order to use a fire weapon, go ahead and keep dropping down. Don't be afraid to look down and see a ledge in a

spiraling staircase that seems to end.

Then go ahead and kill the area boss and then make sure you have a homeward bone. Then warp out to the Chaos Servant Covenant, and go from there to the place of the lava.

Idk if you know Acidic_Cook, but he always talks abstractly, and he also loves the server. And now that I do, I guess i'll do a bit of Acidic Talk:
'Tis true the fire giant does not take much fire damage, but, alas, running back and forth will create a weakness in his attacks, allowing you to use a normal weapon on him, no matter the damage.

Other than that, most things can take fire damage in the Demon Ruins, surprisingly.

I'm starting to favor the Shotel of late, don't ask me why because for me the reach seems to be pretty naff, but it is slowly getting me hooked (pun intended).

Hahaha! If I was gonna do a short range weapon that's dex, I'd just do what BLA1NE keeps telling people. I'd use the Painted Guardian Sword. Best melee DPS.

that's exactly what i have been doing. using the drake and the black knight swords. i just switched from black knight to crystal spear, it;s just such a chore upgrading it.

and if you are saying i should be wearing hollow pants. yeah it occurred to me...when you said that that crappy light pants are better than no pants at all

i use the crimson skirt for bosses and the wanderer gloves. yeah i don't wear gloves either.
