Just defeated Gwyn in NG+ with Pyromancy only, 4 slots

Took forever to figure that guy out. He's WAY too quick for me and I can't parry to save my life. I used Great Combustion, Great Fireball and two slots of Fire Orb. Great Combustion was last and I had several left as he died. My pyromancy flame was all of the way up too.

I wore the Black Iron Set fully upgraded and the BK Shield +5, had the Dark Wood Grain Ring for quick movement and had to break down and wear the Ring of Favor since I hadn't put much into Hit Points. Only had 1,200 and I needed every bit of them.

I think the trick is to quickly run to the left and continue working your way around that first rather large stalagmite. That way he keeps bungling his leap attack where he flies through the air and MURDERS me nearly every time if I don't get my shield up. He also stabs THROUGH the other stalagmites so those are useless to hide behind.

I hope this helps others who have run up against a brick wall trying to defeat this guy like I did. I felt I needed to join in and stop being a lurker. Learned a ton from this site! Thanks all.

There's at teeny tiny hill in there that you can get him on. He'll most likely miss you if he gets on it, and you can then use that opportunity to heal. PS: I tanked him like a BOSS when I beat him the first time. Awesome experience

Sweet! No lie! I was pretty stoked when I killed him the first time. Wasn't nearly as tough the first time through and I was able to take him out with the Greatsword of Artorias +5.

I assume if I can get him up on that hill I can do some Washing Pole stabs too if I don't need to heal???? Prob is I ALWAYS need to heal!!!!!!! lol

I boosted my Washing Pole to +10 fire and it hits him pretty good. I don't understand why some folks say you can't kill him with fire. He DOES NOT like fire!

Yeah... Sorcery makes that fight ridiculously easy.
I feel kind of bad that I've never even been hit by him when he's the final boss (and the fact that the False King used to kick my royal butt from here to kingdom come).

Thus, I decided not to ever parry him. before I did my no shield character (before I could parry) I failed like 30 times. As in, I died 30 times. I beat him the first time I tried to tank him. The developers wanted the player to use the experience he or she accumulated to beat the final boss. IMO, they did just that. if you don't accumulate the skill to parry throughout your game, then you have to use the other skills you accumulated. I.E. tanking. It was really fun.

I went in naked with nothing but an unbuffed Ricard's with no parries and beat him. Does that count? But yeah parries made this boss piss easy. You shouldn't be able to parry his attacks.

Yeah, but sorcery makes the mobs throughout the game the hardest thing to kill, and not the bosses. It kinda evens things out. Plus, in Dark Souls, they made the mobs harder, and the bosses not as hard, compared to Demon Souls.

I bet you did that throughout the game. And thus, you accumulated that skill!

And I think you should only be able to parry a few of his attacks. Or make his attacks hard to parry. Or all attacks hard to parry. Making a thief build harder to do, but if you get good at it, it's a SPECIAL skill, ya know?

I would have never thought it was possible with just those pyros.. did you use them all up? What rings and equipment did you use to boost your pyro power?

you know for a man with a flaming sword and various titles involving fire its weird how out of all the elements i tested against him in my first play through, fire did the best, lightning pike? meh. occult pike? meh squared, divine pike? even worse. fire pike, turtled him to death with an black iron great shield...

I used up everything but a couple Great Combustion. And YES I made almost all of them count. Since he's so busy trying to work his way around that monster pile of rocks you have time to get close enough to put the smack down on his arse. I think I missed with one orb and a couple GC but that was it.

I used Favor and Dark Wood Grain.

Now I'm trying to beat S&O in NG++. Got to two of those full red blocks left with the Zwei and the fat bastard jumped on me and made me a butt plug! Jerk.

I think I'm gonna build some equip load up and use all Havel Equipment. Back to farming. Blahhhh
