I hate you dark souls

so im on a dark souls break after playing it since day one and ive been playing white knight chronicles(good game) and all i keep thinking about is new builds for dark souls, dark soul ruined rpg's for me, the only games that really makes me forget about dark souls is BF3 because i have to concentrate to kick some *** so i dont think about anything else beside what im shooting at, i know this has been said a lot but i just wanted to share this.....yep.

Have you tried Dragon's Dogma?

i do like it and it has a lot of the classic weapons like the claymore, estoc, greataxe etc. but dark souls is just so much fun though, i wanted to go back to demon's since i like it better than dark souls but the servers got shut down in NA so i was kinda disapponited about that and its just too similar of a game.

the reason i was taking a break is becasue i was going hollow, i needed a new game and wkc2 is not cutting it, i might just end up going back and forth with bf3 and dark souls since the new close quarters dlc is coming out really soon which is a godsend for consoles since most maps are too big for the amount of people allowed for consoles, the true bf3 experience is on PC which i dont have a good enough one to play it(damn you laptop!)

Thank goodness for my communal desktop, without it I'd be SOL with regards to PC gaming (my laptop really is an embarrassment). I went through the exact same thing you're going through as it pertains to DkS; my self-imposed Dark Souls break really felt like cruel and unusual punishment, I was almost cracking. But those couple weeks or so really did me good, I came back refreshed and ready to enjoy this magnificent game all over again. Not yet, but maybe in a couple of months or so I may take another break while I wait for the DLC stuff to come to consoles.

It really sucks when all other games pale in comparison to Dark Souls. It's a blessing and a curse that From Software gave the gaming community.

So, is your break over? I hear you about builds. I'm constantly thinking of new builds to make.

nope, it only been a little over a week, i said i'll come back after 4th of july weekend which would make it over a month and im stcking to it, i even put away my copy of dark souls to not even look at it. pendant is right about the whole blessing and curse thing, im like thank you FROM for making this awesome game oh and by the way you suck for making the rest boring as hell!

Rant, what I say is go out and buy some games back on the PS2 or PS1 you missed that are around still, or even just ones you missed on PS3. I've picked up stuff like Max payne for like £3 and even PS3 games a couple years old you can get for like quarter original price if you look in the right places.

...However you'll still end up back here I guarantee it

i was really thinking about getting ff9 on psn since my ps1 and 2 both died and never got a new one since i had the newest one already but ff9 is one of the best games ever, i really think it's better than ff7(let the hate begin lol) vivi's "incident" made me sadder than aerith's death.

Thats exactly how i am with this game now and i havent even finished it. Im assuming that once i do i can ride off into the sunset with all my other games, but im starting to doubt it will be that easy though.

You're right about BF3, its the only game thats able to resist Dark Souls pull, and, like you said, its simply because you have no time to think about it, you have to focus on the game at hand.
But i tried to get back into Skyrim, a game i love, but i just couldn't concentrate on it. I was comparing everything in it to Dark Souls. Not that Skyrim was a difficult game anyway, but its way too easy after Souls. I felt like a masochist, i wanted to be punished for every mistake i made.

My break will come in Fall when X-COM: Enemy Unknown comes out...

that's a good idea actually! I really liked Vivi as a character, he had depth the others just didn't have.

Also consider getting Legend of Dragoon off there too, it's pretty cheap and it's awesome.

that's a good idea actually! I really liked Vivi as a character, he had depth the others just didn't have.

legend of dragoon is a classic, im still waiting for a sequel, DAMN YOU SONY!!!

They had started work on a sequel, but got cancelled before release, apparently (what it said in an article that announced it's release on PSN)

Recently replayed it, almost finished now, it's been rather nostalgic

It was the same for me! Tried to play other games, couldn't get my mind to stop coming up with new builds. And I also had a speed run on the back of my mind the whole time. Thankfully I did the run... but now my mind is thinking up a new one! But right now I've got my 10 slots filled pretty solidly, to the point where it'd be a heart-wrenching decision which to delete, so since I can't make new builds it's easier to stop thinking about them now. So fill your slots good and you'll stop thinking about ways to change them!

the thing is i already have all 10 slots filled aand i like all my builds but i only play with three of them on a regular basis, they're on my sig. the thing that keeps making me go back to it is that i just got into the greataxes about a week before my break and i keep thinking about ways to use them so that kinda sucks for me and i wanna make a velka's rapier build which i posted recently on the pvp section so i really wanna do that too, so yeah its gonna be really hard waiting till after 4th of july and i really felt like i needed a break since i was getting bored of making new builds which i really wanted to make which kinda makes no sense.

i actually havent bought anything since dark souls, my wife was the one tha bought wkc2 becasue she said she was sick of watching me play the same game all the time lol, she wanted me to play a more colorful game so she got me wkc2.

Tis a Pity that your wife and you do not see the same. Perhaps it requires to stations and plays. Simultaneous it is, for you and your wife to go, and see the world around you. You and your wife search from hell to heaven, from left right, up, and down.

Perhaps the use of adventure would sooth your wife to acceptance, and seek for retribution of the Great Lord. Besides, I need more victims, and another will be a +1.
