Since I'm a hapless noob who has no idea what he's doing, this thread is necessary, hahah!

I got tired of constantly getting invaded by BKGA tanks, and want to do some invading of my own! So yeah, tips would be nice, or try to discourage me, whatevs.

use a highly uncommon weapon. when the person you're invading sees a full havels bkga, they will most likely know how to beat it pretty easily or resort to cheap tactics to take you out since everyone is sick of that build.

depending on your build, i would have a high scaling weapon as your primary that you can buff, and then use an elemental weapon as your alternative. for instance, right now i'm using a painting guardian sword +15 and buffing with DMB, and then using a chaos gargoyle halberd as my second weapon.

When invading dont be afraid of using the power with in buff in combination with a weapon buff. however make sure that you have the weapon buff inplace and active first since Power within only effects your current dmg stats not ones put inplace after.

The sunlight blade is a good Idea for a dark wraith since you can use it in your covenent.

My Dex Iatio build does 910dmg with the SLB+ Power within. In combination with the red tear stone ring I ended a 3v1 25sec. . . . . . but I died cause I couldnt heal in time but it was epic either way.

I didnt even have time to see how much dmg I was doing.

Equip the fog ring and do some scouting to make sure what kind of enemy your facing cause a spear/shield jockey is power withins worst enemy.

For shield jockeys/spear boys use poisin arrows or dung pies it causes them to make mistakes big time.

i would suggest not relying on buffs. more then not you will not have a chance to cast them. if you do make a build around them make sure you have a backup elemental weapon or a weapon that scales enough to make the physical dmg viable.

remember you can invade people much higher level the you. a lot of people even take advantage of this and go to popular invasion spots with a lvl225-710 build(yea its ridiculous). mainly though, just have fun and dont take the ganking or loses to seriously. i enjoy invading sens because theres a lot of fun to be had there(in terms of setting up traps or running away trying to get them hit by the blades). also remember that you are invading, dont bow unless the person is alone and clearly wants a duel(sometimes its better just not to at all).

you on psn? im thinking of starting a topic/club for people to practice countering some of the most widely used powerful techniques. parrying bkga/mlgs, bs wog users, avoiding and preforming backstabs ext.)

i don’t agree with this, if you are the one invading then you should be the one to bow first. i always wait for invaders to bow, sometimes i bow first but not always, and if the vader doesn’t bow then im not going to show much respect.
if you afraid of getting BS/CSS or something like that when bowing the bow from a distance. and get the proper bow, it is a lot faster than the normal bow and i often get away from people trying to BS me.

well everyone is free to play as they wish big grin. just saying, but bowing from a distance isnt going to stop a css from hitting you unless you bow from far beyond the lock on distance(which isnt always possible). also these are invasions not duels. everyone is allowed to play as they want, and bowing during an invasion against a host and 2 summons making their way through the level just seems silly to me.

the gestures were just froms way of letting people communicate without using msging. theres no rule saying you have to ever use them. my main point to him was to just have fun while invading. play pranks, be stealthy(you cant do that if you go find them and bow).

Uhh you guys were not talking about ethics were talking about battle tactics.

he is right on one thing you shouldnt rely totally on buffs cause i dont use them on shield jockey's.

But they are a great tool to use if your a good enough player to give your self some room to use them.

I dont agree with his statement about elemental weapons unless its an elemental that does over 250 dmg in each dmg status for instance an elemetal rapier does crap dmg while an elemtal claymore does great dmg over all compared to its STR version whish only gets about 100-150 more dmg that its elemental brother.

I have invaded a whole three times and I too have a tip. When you die as a Darkwarith, you still have to go back and collect your souls and humanity from where you started your invasion from. big grin So pick that spot wisely.

more tips, keep your inventory as bare bones as possible having only what you need. how i mentioned having a back up elemental, if you have an elemental version of the weapon you buffed you can switch real quick if you get good at opening your inventory really fast. i also like to have 3 shields each specializing in blocking a certain type of dmg( i personally like to have three shields "grass crest, dragon crest, and plain crest shield" having a really high stability shield in the mix is a good idea also. you probably already know this stuff but your stats are very very important along with what spells if any you will be working with. for invasions i suggest either making a faith build or a vit/end/dex pyro build.

get a good scaling weapon that you like and buffs are a bad idea in invasions, if the host is alone most of the time he will end up running away from you till your buff wears out, do not take invading seriously, i personaly dont like invading that much but when i do always pick a good weapon that noone ever uses like the mace or pickaxe which ends up beign more fun, its more practice thant anything for me and you dont lose anything you just have to pick up your blood stain.

Do what all the best darkwraiths do... PARRY

Not saying doing anything else isn't a viable strategy. not at all.

However, if looking to end fights in one to two hits, than a parry will prove most effective. It is rarely ever expected from an opponent and you can do things to press the issue and get them to swing at you. i.e. ranging them with some type of arrows

Pay attention to what they have on and are using (that includes rings). Light poise opponents can be easily stun locked into submission if they are not able dodgers.

KICK the living **** out of tanks shields. usually one kick followed up by a hard hit will knock that shield out of the way.

When facing the brutal 3 vs 1 battle (that is becoming more common to me than one vs one) be sure to hide until the host is separated from them. Usually hosts like to run ahead of the phantoms, take advantage of this. Parrying is vital here as well because you wont be able to just hack away at a host with 2 phantoms glued to his shaft.

Last thing (Im exposing too many of our secrets lol) you should pick invasion areas that lend themselves to the darkwraith. The catacombs is one such area. Also TOG, and undead burg/parish. I like to put an item down in the parish on the steps in the underground tunnel where you get mobbed my undead. I hide in rafters above and plummet down!
