    Any Tips? I need help

Post by ciscovet on Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:18 am

So I'm SL121 at the moment and have finally made it to the Kiln. I have been starting to PvP 1vs.1 but I am getting my arse kicked. I mean, I only one like one match last night and burned through about 12 humanities. I am mainly a Dex/pyro build and am using mask of child, iron armor +5, red waist cloth +5, rystal gloves. My weapons are lightning Synthe +5, lightning washpole, pyro glove and grass shield.
A couple of times last night I got BS after bowing which sucked but oh well. I tend to get BS alot and don't understand how to counter it. I have been playing with lighter equip (clerics robe) and fater setups but then I get killed with 2 hits.
Now I got to go and farm some humanity so I can come back for some more punishment.
One last thing, sometimes its hard to use the orbs. I invisible wall goes up for a while. I think the game is finding people for invasions. Much of the time it doesn't happen. Has anyone noticed this? I'm on 360 too. I should be on tonight, maybe some can trade me some humanity for something.

There are videos in you tube about countering BS. However, practice makes perfect. The most important thing is trying not to be hit, use dead angles (also in youtube)

With regards to fog walls and nothing happening, yea it happens to everyone. I usually just quit and reload that moves me to a new lobby most of the time.

If you want to get better at 1v1 PvP my suggestion would be to join either the darkmoon or forest covenants for their rings. You'll be summoned as an invader constantly and many times have to deal with 2 or 3v1.

Yes, you'll get killed a whole lot, but you'll get a lot more practice in and won't need to worry about farming humanity. You can easily try out different strategies and work on your game. When you go back to the kiln after 50 or 100 matches it'll seem like cake to go 1v1 again and you'll have some new strategies for everything that comes your way.

Also, what's happening to you when the fog door goes up is the game is setting up your world to host an invader. If you don't want to be invaded and waste humanity you can go hollow and invaded as a darkmoon. I hate suggesting it because I hate being invaded by them, but for someone trying to get some practice in w/out much risk it's a good way to go.

Yeah forest cov can help. You're going to spend a lot of time getting destroyed in 2v1 or 3v1 matchups with people much higher level, but it helps a lot with testing different weaps and learning how to evade and use the environment to your advantage. Just don't take it personally when you keep getting killed, it does eventually get a little better. And a lot of the BSs are inexplicable, there are lots of crazy stories out there. But you can also at least reduce some of them.

Practice is the key to winning any pvp game. I used to lose a hell of a lot until I finally got the hang of dodging and using my miracles (substitute pyros in your case) efficiently.

Also learning your weapons dead angles, so as to slide damage past their guard, is amazing and often ends up being a duel defining move as people like to turtle up when low on hp. Also learning the popular weapons movesets and the popular moves from those move sets.

I can't tell you how many times this has saved me when a Zwei wielding heavy has rolled and tried to use that thrust attack.

Basically I find that picking a weapon moveset you like and practicing with it is all you need to become a good pvper. Armour helps but not getting hit or parrying helps even more. Good luck too ya pvp is one of the best aspects of this game.
