Scimitar has a move set backflip
Playing around ps3. O + R1 plus push forward on left joystick ( must time perfectly). My toon slashes then does a backflip cartwheel ( no ring equipped). I tried it with a mace and she kicks but can't get her to do the backwards cartwheel. Hmmm

Yes, Jagged Ghost Blade is another one that I believe does the same. Maybe Furysword too?

I'm fairly certain that only works for the scimitar and a couple other curved weapons, the Furysword being one of them.

Curved swords have a special kick animation.
But it's useless, 65% base damage, can be parried, and has 0 invincibility frames.

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
I was summoned into a mass boxing match last night, and long story short it looked like when I tried to kick while unarmed I instead did a knee jab. Shorter range and generally useless, albeit funny. Is this only available when unarmed?

I think you do it with all fist weapons.befowler wrote:I was summoned into a mass boxing match last night, and long story short it looked like when I tried to kick while unarmed I instead did a knee jab. Shorter range and generally useless, albeit funny. Is this only available when unarmed?

It is vulnerable, too... more so than a rapiers, anyways.
Easy for rapier, swing and back step.... instead of a normal kick. Doesn't stagger still... The fist weapons have a knee cap stub at enemies, which is shorter range, yet faster, than a kick.
I have an opinion in what to replace your kick with, thou...

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
I've found a use for that kick if you've the poise to back it up. It's called slap and run, and you use it as the start of your escape.

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
I like to use that move just to screw with people it doesn't do much damage but it is funny to watch and when someone is trying to be a parry me I do that just to mess with them considering that while it is possible to parry it is hard to do it and no one expects it.

You see this is one thing that bugs me about games and their online communities, when people stop doing things because it's not efficient or just use the same best stuff, it turns everything into numbers games and competition, rather than just focus on the fun of it.
This ain't a slander to you Rynn though, this post is just a good example, and whats even more shocking is the fact people bothered to work that out..

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
Oh, I don't mind. IMO this one really just bothers me though. The skill is -absolutely- useless, and it replaces a useful feature that is default on any other weapon. I'll use unorthadox or less useful things, but when you give me a skill that does nearly no damage, can be resisted with merely 7 poise, and then does -way- less damage then just attacking, while having a major vulnrability period, it's just a giant middle finger from the devs.Serious_Much wrote:Rynn wrote:Curved swords have a special kick animation.

I also worked those numbers out myself. When I see something uaeless, I try to justify it. There isn't a justification to the skill.

Wow, how do you even work out the numbers like that? :|
also, there is a simple justification; It's really awesome.

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
The nude Hollows in the Undead Burg only reduce damage by approximately 10 points. You can get pretty close to absolute base damage via testing on them. The scimitar kick does roughly 65% of the damage of a normal attack.Serious_Much wrote:Rynn wrote:I also worked those numbers out myself. When I see something uaeless, I try to justify it. Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
I think the poise damage is more difficult, as it's a bar like bleed/poison that drops with time but you cant see it..

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
Actually the Scimitar's kick has a purpose it is usable in a scimitar combo. Just attack 3-5 times and at the end of the attack use the kick it will give you some room and breathing time i'll test it tonight.

Still simple.Serious_Much wrote:I think the poise damage is more difficult, as it's a bar like bleed/poison that drops with time but you cant see it..
Just get a player to equip X amount of poise, and see if a single hit stumbles them. The kick stumbles anyone with less then 7 poise.

Re: Scimitar has a move set backflip
Kicks are good for those behind a shield... especially shields that are not great-shields. They can stagger them well and hard for those who turtle behind em.
