    Museum of Souls (Players)

Post by skarekrow13 on Sun Apr 08, 2012 2:11 pm

Welcome to the Museum of Souls (players)!

We have many wonderful pieces to peruse. Our museum is not selective about our artists' chosen medium and houses some of the greatest drawings, music, movies, literature and other art from around the world.

How have we accomplished this most majestic feat?

It's simple really, our doors are open for all contributors to share their masterpieces.  All we ask is that, where appropriate, the artist would be so kind as to provide an introduction or explanation of the work. The lack of said information will not make us turn you away however.....but you will be forced to see the speculation of others thrust upon your work.  One request before adding new works...

Please add the word "EXHIBIT" at the top so visitors will know to stop for a moment to appreciate the addition.  The use of color to add to visibility is encouraged.

    Enjoy!

    Hello all,
My first contribution to the museum is a short video I made a few years ago. Really short so no need for a snack break. I was perusing a daily deal site and saw stop motion software on sale. I said "I don't really need that do I?" It turns out I didn't. Whether I could use creativity is another question.....one which you may decide for yourself.

Whoops, meant to have that included...will edit the original post.

It's not easy opening a museum! What with all the loans and investors and making things up out of the blue.....

I thought that video was pretty nice, it's very simple but that isn't a bad thing. You definitely have more skill with clay than I do.

As a man of prose every now and then I like to test out different styles of writing, this time I decided to try out Nonsense verse. Just a little something, I won't really be posting any of my lengthy tales or writings.

    Ballad of the Wurssfurn

Oh curse oh worse, the purse of many verse,
My the fool, thy own tool,
Feeling wanting merely taunting, their head spinning through about,
Oh the Jaunting and the flaunting, inner spectres seeping out,
Through the woods and back, an idea merely,
Looking for with a sore, eyes scanning silly,
Worm of noon and bird of flight,
Coming soon but not at night,
Why terry while the merry find,
Awful scary and and awful hairy bind,
Up and down like a kite,
With a frown at the sight,
    Frightful baring, senseless tearing,
Long and pointed to a key,
    Without warning, came dark hoaring,
    Awful Wurssfurn without caring,
    Awful Wurssfun still just glaring,
    Nasty nasty is the plight,
    Mean Wurssfurn hunting,
    Mean Wurssfurn blunting,
Why not save a wicked bite?

Very nice. Glad the curator changed his mind on including literature. Hopefully we'll see some more works from you.

If there is interest I can add pictures of the reason I started this thread. I was thinking of doing a Solaire stop motion but don't have enough time for photography. The sculpture would be easy as I used to make figures out of twist ties when I was younger. These got very elaborate over the years and as a result, I could easily make armor and weapons to match Solaire (if I had the time).

I'd be interested in Solaire. big grin

As for music while I do listen to some, I'm not entirely much of a music guy so I can't really give tips or any real feedback on it. other than, "So, you used a guitar. Keep doing that."

Ok, here's four pieces of music (not really "songs" per se)accompanied by some pictures

Please forgive some of the garbage as I recorded these acoustically with a stock computer microphone about 10 years ago.

This is the first one I ever wrote, after learning that the "E" chord exists. Sadly my first is one of the most complete. The picture is of LED lights taken with a long term exposure setting. There's really no other story for either:

    First song

The next exhibit is most people's favorite (of the four or five who have heard this before that is). This is an attempt at classical, finger picking guitar. The picture should be obvious:

    Other people's favorite

The next piece is my favorite and an attempt at integrating skills from the two earlier pieces. The recording on this is particularly bad so beware. Sadly, I actually forgot how to play it. The picture is more long term exposure with an orange glow stick:

    my fave

The last piece for today was the result of college life. I hit upon this tune and thought it sounded silly so a friend and I toyed around with it. We got to thinking this would be hysterical if we tried to make verses with the vilest, most despicable lyrics ever to go with the happy tune. We were drunk....
Anyway, this one is entitled "The Evil Song" and we actually made one permanent verse. The tradition was to sing this one then speed up and try to improvise the next verses. The picture speaks for itself again:

    The Evil Song

Here are the lyrics if you're interested:
    Spoiler:
    "Kill some puppies,
    kill some kittens.
    Rip their skin off,
    make some mittens"

Does the literature have to be verse or can it be anything?

Anything. Novels might want to be split into chapters and put in spoilers but really anything. I started this because the group as a whole is really creative here and close knit. I suspect there's many of us who have art to share but have been afraid to or didn't have an audience.

Alright, so as sort of a self made challenge from time to time I ask a friend to give me a premise for a story and I write it as fast as I can. This time I asked for a horror story and Yesuurd gave me, Abandoned House, a Cow Named Lucy, an evil woodsman shooting and killing lucy as a revenge story. This was the result, I wrote it in around, ten minutes I think, maybe less.

    The Surging Horn

Dawning lights drip through cracks into the once beloved home of the Pinnth family. Outside had the grass grown dark and sparse as mere soil overcame the life which grew. A simple puddle of reflection to what has been shows a grand event. Children and pets merely existing in these fields. Alone yet so vast in number while at home the parents settled in relaxing ways. Though to drink water was sparse causing them to seek this simple stream. On the way eyes followed with toxin on the breath. A vest and pipe that revealed the end to others signified the random hunter. Cries of metal alerted all to the disturbance as screaming voices rushed into the woods. The dirk and dagger fled fearing confrontation only attempt to feed those close. Tears fell over the whimpering body of Lucy the cow. Her milk would soon sour and rot inside of the worthless body. The mourning ended quickly as tools of man make any wary. In time those in blue came without any idea or cause, merely believing safety was found elsewhere. Soon enough the family left abandoning their estate and place of love and nurture. Fester did the essence of Lucy until no longer could it wait. Gaunt and stricken of flesh or understanding merely did the bovine pardoner wish to seek absolution from another. It wandered for nights causing even wolves to cower in fear at its flaying gaze. Small and rickety a shack was sure of guilt, as blood stained its very porch. Lucy stopped outside looking in at a child and man laugh over the body of a steer. He was cutting it as she watched learning the very purpose of everything, to survive. To enjoy each other and continue despite anything that could bring them down. Their smiles were cold as her body though, she didn't care about the here and now. This spirit of vengeance only existed because of the past. Before either could embrace ensuring additional wanting the door burst open as a skull slammed into the man. He struggled gasping for breath and bleeding pinned against an array of tools. With a few he bashed on the thick bone but eventually he paled as his strength faded. The whole time the other merely sobbed waiting for the color to leave his face and eyes, wishing for just another moment. Lucy was the eye of justice, blind but necessary. Limp were both as the slowly sagged. She would never forget, the little girl would always see as she wept the empty sockets. It had been inevitable.

No problem, it's what I do. I wouldn't mind some feedback either, but only if you are interested. I know a bit about Drawing so I can help some with ideas and what not, but I understand if you aren't into literature you might not be able to give any more feedback than "It's good/bad."

Tolvo.....the ten minute story challenge is impressive. I would give additional thoughts but I would imagine that with a quick re-read or two you would find ways to make it even better. I would say that your wording, cadence and vocabulary are all idiosyncratic in that story which is a good thing. It's prose but it's bordering on poetry too.

TehInfamousAmos. I wish I could draw that well. Love your avatar and the portrait is excellent. I would do feedback on the host site but I don't have an account so I will say that you might hear critique about the empty space around the subject but I think it adds to the allure in this case. Ordinarily, there should be some balance between subject and the rest of the space but I feel like your picture almost jumps out like a bust of this person. It feels like there is genuine adoration for the subject despite the seemingly "mundane" pose. your other picture which you seem a little less sure about is still excellent. It demonstrates much different technique and style.
