I Am An Idiot!!

When I started playing DS, I didn't know anything. I just made my character balanced out.
Now he's at sl 65 with all his stats at 18-19. Can he be saved to be any use at PVP? and how?
Or do I need to make another whole character? Ive grown attached to old jimmy boy, you know?

Just make sure you now focus in one particular stat, and then up your Vit and End.

Your best bet will either be INT for the Moonlight GreatSword or going to STR/DEX and using a weapon scaling in that while adding pyromancy.

Also, in your opinion, what would be a good dex/str weapon?
I've been using quelaags furysword. Is that a good dex weapon?

brother, not an idiot in dark souls! at least you figured this out by lvl 65. my first char was way higher before i realised i blew it bad. there are so many options for chars and leveling:
dex/str
str/ int
str/faith
dex/int
dex/faith
int/vit
........... first figure what weapons and style you want to play. dont think anyone puts points into resistance?? confirm?

best thing i found since, well, dark souls. i wish my first char would have been vit/end/str/dex. that way you can try all the weapons and armor and see what you like best, then specialize on your next build. quelaags sword is great in pve at +5, in pvp.... its good if opponent doesnt have high fire resist(usually do) and you can hit alot! its a fast sword with cool moves. didnt blow it but prob cant stop at 120, im sure there is some pvp happening in higher levels tho, 200???.

I think it's best to make a new character.

probably not sl 120 but you can always go up to sl200+, get the true gs of artorias and level up int and fai to 50.

Since I prefer PvPing in the 120s, I would make a new build. At 120, your stats would be spread too thin. But, if you want to go to 200, it should still be good.

For Str/Dex builds, you're best off going with a sword. Either a Straight Sword or a Greatsword, though there are a few to avoid since certain weapons of those classes cater to either strength or dexterity more. My recommendations for a Str/Dex build would be to take both of those stats to 40, using one of the following:

*Sunlight Straight Sword
*Darksword
*Barbed Straight Sword
*Claymore
*Bastard Sword
*Stone Greatsword

You may also consider the Gravelord Greatsword or the Murakumo, since they have high strength requirements, but scale mostly with Dex, so you can still make them work well with a hybrid.

As to your other stats, once you have the Strength and Dexterity, focus on getting Endurance and Vitality as close to 40 each as possible. You can stop Endurance early if you don't need to take it all the way to 40 to be under the 50% equip load, but don't stop any earlier than 30 Endurance. If you do this, put the rest of your endurance points either into Attunement for more pyromancies, or Vitality for more survivability.

There's the black knights weapons too.
And the Tumi (or is it Server in the english version ?) wich is pretty good and faster than a murakumo, the man-serpent greatsword too (though it scales only with str but the damages are worth it).
In fact, with a STR/Dex he could use almost every weapon and that's what I'd recommend him, he should try all the weps he can and then see wich ones he prefers and then make builds with those weapons.

You can use this char to get to 200 and get lot's of pvp action at the forest, but I think you should start making another one that caps at 120.

Make another one, (or three, or five, lol, you can never make enough!).

Now that you know what is going on you can optimize a build.

I was in the same boat, my first toon was a total mess. I never played demon's soul and played dark souls completely blind the first time through, (best way imo). So I would find a weapon that seemed cool and level up the needed stats to use it. By the time I got to the Kiln, and then NG+, and started looking into serious PvP I realized what a mess he was....but....I never deleted him.

He will be my super high level character. Your build "mistakes" will be covered up by the time you reach the 300's....and 400's.........and on. If possible.

I also have one player, my Dragon, that was started with the intent of being a high level, but nothing can replace the nostalgia of my first toon.

Thats what I was thinking. Just level him up like crazy to 400-500

How about the true greatsword of artorias? Would that be any use on PvP?

It is at its best above SL200, which is far above the common PvP level. However in that area PvP is still about, as well as a Darkmoon or Forest Hunter that shouldn't effect you too much. As well I believe there is an SL200 FC being set up, so if you are on the right console you might be able to join in on that. I'd check with Greengoblin, I'm pretty sure he has some hand in that.

Well first make sure that is what you want to do, I don't want just my voice to be the deciding factor in this haha, once you level up remember you can't go back.

Yes. My original goal was to join forest hunters because I heard you could invade at any level from there, but I killed Shiva after I killed the ninja to get that stupid Darkwood Grain ring I never use. So darkmoons can invade any level also?

If you absolve your sins you can return to Alvina and join the forest hunters, unless you tried to talk to her right after killing Shiva. Darkmoon invade downwards, so you will invade around your level and lower. Opposite of Dark Wraiths who invade around their level and higher.

Right now I'm just trying out PvP with darkwraith, so that must be why its so difficult.

You can also always try hosting, there are always people looking to invade.
