Announcement Regarding Dark Souls Incoming

Dark Souls ... DLC. I dont see your point.

For Dark Souls DLC? I'd eat Cow Pies. But only like three or four. If it's a really big DLC patch, maybe ten. I couldn't do it all in one sitting though of course.

You know what I would want in a dlc? The ability to give more than 1 cov thing at a time. trying to give kaathe 80 humanity takes fooooooooooooooooooooooorever.

This incoming announcement has been bothering me so much :evil: I just want it to come out so I can decide wheter I'm overjoyed (DLC) or else unaffected (PC port). No matter what happens, I'll definitely be happy when this wall falls...

I have to say judging by the recent confirmation of dlc/sequel as well as the picture behind the wall not being of a computer I believe we can asssume it will be a dlc. If it is a pc port it should include a dlc release as well.

Behind the wall will just be a fat guy playing Dark Souls on the computer...And he'll look oddly enough a bit like Ganondorf.

It's a safe bet that the wall is a PC announcement. Whether or not it's different than 1.05 is debatable, perhaps in order to ensure sales they will add something unique.

Holy ****...1.1...What if it isn't DLC...What if it's just a patch? If so, I will need to send money to From for their glorious work as a developer to know just how satisfied I am! In fact, I'd send them more money than the DLC could be worth!

The other link mentions something about different bosses but everything else is 1:1 to the console versions. I honestly doubt they added completely new bosses, more like they upgraded textures, did some pallet swapping or even increased their size but not created entirely new ones from scratch.


My guess is they want to tempt console owners to invest in a 2nd version for the PC. Considering some have both PS3 and 360 versions I'm sure some will do it. I wouldn't mind paying for it so long as it has increased graphical options. The thought of playing the entire game without a hint of slowdown with better graphics is very appealing. The addition of anything extra is just icing on the cake.

There continues to be nothing on From's site, blog or twitter about this, so I am still thinking PC port. If so, this is Namco's endeavor and I doubt DLC or expect it to be terrible. If From are indeed involved, it is surprising they remain so quiet about this on their local channels.

And I wouldn't buy the PC version as the online is guaranteed to be broken day 1 as modders take over to grief you. Namco didn't support servers for the consoles, I highly doubt they will for PC.

I'm sure it is Namco's deal since the PC sales in Japan would probably not be worth the effort. I'm not quite sure why there is so much hate if it is a pc version, there are many other games that are multi platform. Since this originated in Japan it's obvious why a PC version wasn't originally considered.


As far as hackers go, xbox already has this issue and it's really not all that widespread. I haven't seen a modder in ages because they usually have a short attention span. Having 65k hit points probably get's boring after awhile and you can still kill them with bleed and kicking them off edges. If they're modding then they obviously lack real skills already so good players can often win anyways.

The thing is things on the PC see a huge explosion in hackers and modders, as well I'm pretty sure nothing can actually be done about these people on the side of from, as they can't lock people out of servers since there are none.

There is also the possibility that a crafty modder will come up with some way to create dedicated server software for people to use. If so people that get caught modding could easily be banned. It might seem a stretch, but if they can create private servers from scratch for some of the largest, most complex MMO's then Dark Souls wouldn't be out of the question.
