The iaito love.

I see lots of it. Many people seem to adore the weapon. I've never fought anyone who used it. Ever, i regularly see (and beat) glgs, mlgs, claymore, dss, zwieh, murakumo, gargoyal halberd and washing pole.

My question is, if everyone likes it so much, why does it seem like no one uses it? I fight you guys with it in fc and win more than half of the time to so its not like it isn't viable.

I use Uchi, i acutally prefer the stabbing motion...

But i see it quite a bit, it's not like its uncommon, but seeing as most people use lightning weapons.. katanas turned lightning aint that great really compared to a claymore or Zwei, so will be less common

I'm pretty sure any decent mid or smaller/noncritical weapon is better +15, they are to small to break both defences if you're dealing with mid/heavy armor.

I have a character that uses the iato as her primary weapon. Buffing it with DMB for pvp can make quick work of most players. I don't think its so much that no one uses it its just that the moveset of it and the uchi are very similiar other than the R2 move and they look almost identical

I'm judging based on the speed of the attacks. I've only seen 4 or 5 uchis though. And 2 balder side swords. All very highly recommended weapons i don't see much.

Just remember they are highly recommended here in these forums. Im guessing that we make up only a small % of active players. And i would be willing to bet that 66% of all players have never looked up anything online.

My level 50 darkwraith has been in Anor for months now. Thousands upon thousands of invasions. His +9 Fire Iaito has been seen by many hosts and phantoms.

It reall is a brilliant weapon for aggressive playstyles. I keep 2 on me, 1 normal, 1 lightning, as well as a divine balder side sword, a demon spear and a normal gscythe on me. The normal iaito and demons spear, in that order, see the most action.

Demon spear in left and BSS or iaito(both normal)in the right. i go with the BSS abit more than the iaito as it has better crowd control in 2or3vMe. The Gscythe(again normal comes out when i want to change styles in repeat match ups. Also have a notched whip(normal again) and estoc(yip normal) to really mix things up. All used in order listed.

I use the Iaito (+15 w SLB) on all my dex toons and love it. Slices through people very fast. This combined with a heavy slower weapon in the LH (in my case a +5 Chaos GS, for the BS fisher- smacking swing) can be devastating.

I'm in NG+ and use my Iaito since I found it in NG in blightown.
I just love katanas so much, I'm all for the speed instead of massive dagage anyway. And I simply never swithced to an Uchi. Just bought a Washing pole, btw, can't wait to see if the longer reach is worth it
But I'm not a PvP person, so I speak only for PvE.

My main uses iato with cmw. I've found the R2/RT attack great for catching ppl mid-ninja-flip!

I only use it when I'm Cos-PvP'ing as Shiva's guard, otherwise I'm sticking with a random array of weapons haha.

I LOVE my Iaito.

I have a Dex/ Fth build dedicated to it, and I've dueled a lot in the Kiln with it.

I haven't participated in Fight Club yet, though, so you haven't seen it...

(Actually I do have that video on youtube that some people love to hate!)

I haven't used it in a while though... I mainly PvP as a Mage now, because I'm bored of melee PvP.
