Iaito or Uchigatana

Like my another polls Uchigatana or iaito guys i think iaito got better R2 but uchi got better damage

I'm using a 1h sword anyways. i'm going for speed and the iaito wins out and dead angels better.

its r2 moves (one and two handed) are awesome and have good range, its a quick draw like kenshin himura's batou-jutsu move!

Doesn't the uchi have slightly better range as well? I haven't gotten that far into the Katanas yet

the uchi has better range, yes. but if you want range, screw the uchi, go washing pole. 1h swords are about speed and the iaito has it. the bss is great for the same reason.

I also like the Kenshin style attack on the Iaito and toyed with it awhile. Eventually I abandoned katanas in this game completely but that one is interesting. I haven't faced anyone in PvP who uses it though. Might be a good sleeper weapon.

if your going Dex, then Iaito.

Uchi if your going elemental. 14str and dex is very easy on stats.

I like the Iato style but I find the Uchi one handed thrust more useful, but this is just personal

There's also a window during the windup of the Iaito's R2 where you can change direction with it. Some other weapons can do the same thing, but the iaito's is particularly deceptive because the windup is very obvious and kinda slow. High risk, but high reward.

Don't choose just one. Use both, dual kat style, like me.

Lol I wish the dual weapons movesets would get a buff. Nothing like the Dual Kats from DeS but still a faster swing speed. Also if I had to choose one I found the Uchi to have a better moveset. The R2 can be absolutely punishing two handed and when used one handed can be used to reach into the swing areas of opponents weapons.

The Iaito as far as I've seen falls short of my target when using the R2 as its dash forwards isn't all that far. The Uchi's step then swing R2 covers a similar distance. Also using the Uchi and getting used to its moveset is a gateway into using the washing pole.

Bumping because I just recently started using the Iaito....IMO the moveset is slightly better.

Iaito is the coolest weapon in the game so obviously Iaito ; )

i use all of the katanas. they all have their strength's and weaknesses, and it's hard to pick a specific katana in a general sense. they need to be compared in different situations.

i personally use the chaos blade a lot.. in favor of both of these katanas honestly.

i do prefer the iaito over uchi for the different move set tho, but i'll use the uchigatana if i buff my weapons for the higher damage in 1v1's. in the forest and anor i'm always using the iaito tho, because once you're missing your buff that iaito has more tricks up it's sleeve unbuffed.

plus uchigatana is used on all of my sl 30-50 co op builds since like someone said above the elemental version has low requirements/high damage.

i want to say iaito tho because it's moveset feels a little bit better/faster... you can finish a combo with the iaito's r2 very easily (the r2 just feels really viable) and it'll dead angle better.. but every katana is good in its own way for pvp.

Although the katanas are way to overused, i personally like them. I actually have found i like the uchi for its 1h r2 poke, but thats mainly when paired with mura or great scythe. If i have an alt weapon that has a ranged poke i usually go iaito or chaos blade. If i can carry the extra weight i sometimes use the washing pole, its basically the uchi with more range. I like the iatos 2h moveset more, but since i mainly 1h katanas most of the time i will go uchi. That was a tuff decision xD
