Exclusive Preorder Weapons?

Yeah, I saw this but it was all in Japanese so I don't know.

My opinion is: they're pretty ugly in general so I don't actually want them, but the notion itself is very disconcerting.  

To this I say, I remember when I first mentioned that From might do this due to how the marketing for the game went. Everyone instantly disagreed saying it was impossible, that I was just trying to hate the sequel for no reason. Welp, I guess I'm just a psychic.

Can anybody who reads Japanese elaborate on this for us?

I'm personally not going to lose my sh!t over this until we find out if these weapons are only obtainable through a retailer.  As I said to Hellkitedrake, these could be in the game either through item location or enemy drop, the bonus codes could just mean that you can get them when you make a new character.

According to some people you have to pre-order them from Japanese gaming stores to get them, so likely these will be Japan only bits of content unless you can get an imported copy somehow. Also some are saying that this might be day one DLC. In either case, I'm so utterly disappointed in From.

The weapons are marked as store-specific bonuses, so I doubt you will be able to obtain them any other way. Of course there is the likely weapons pack dlc that will make it.

Preorder weapons are generally underpowered so I hope this is not an unbalancing release factor or the very first impression of the game will be tainted. I would also note these promotions are usually publisher side and not developer side, so we are likely to see similar bonuses in NA/EU

From what I can tell, these look like already in-game weapons with different textures.
If that's the case, I really don't much care.

if this is purely cosmetic dlc, im ok with it. if not, im very depressed and hope collectors editions (or even regular preorders) get it for free. otherwise i will be supporting them only due to not wanting to be left in the dust, i do NOT support day 1 dlc. or on disc dlc.

when dlc first started being a reality i think it was more actually aditional content. now its more about milking customers. outfits should not have to be bought, maybe some sure, but older games rewarded you with new skins for challenges. not putting in a credit card. when dlc was bonus levels added a couple months or maybe even almost a year later. i loved it. now i hate the idea of dlc. i dont buy much of it in any games. any shooter game i get i stick with the basic maps because i dont think its right they basically make you rebuy an entire new game with dlc maps.etc etc. rant done. most of you follow by now.

dlc=bad idea, usually unfair way to rip of fans.

To be honest they look ugly as hell, so I don't care if we get them or not

Crystal Dagger + Crystal Red and White Shield

Unknown Longsword + Unknown unnamed shield
(I know VERY basic japanese so it's safe to say this isn't Fire or Lightning. Probably poison because it looks a lot like sulfer or ooze... Who knows.)

Raw Hand Axe + Raw Wooden Shield
(Wrapping chains around your weapon and shield to strengthen them sounds pretty RAW, if you ask me. Chained prinsoner, anyone?)

Blighted Mace + Blighted East wood shield
(These two actually have the character for fire in the name... Related to chaos maybe?)

Dark Wooden Catalyst + Dark Leather shield
(These are pretty obvious from looking at them, not to mention the effects are on mage equipment..)


This could possibly mean that upgrade paths have visible changes and bonuses to them depending on which path you take. Crystal path seems to get a boost in range and defensive bonuses. I'm just speculating though but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Other than that, i'm dissapointed but i don't think they're as exclusive as they make it sound like .
My theory is that you can get all these Weapons in a regular way, the Pre order Bonus DLC thingie only makes them availiable from the beginning of the Game .

Okay... translation below, and I apologize for any errors. For those who want the short version, the weapons are basically rebalanced versions of starter gear with added effects eg add bleed, lower durability. Also, and I'm not sure, but they are obtainable ingame, the preorder people just get it earlier.

Black Flame Stone Dagger and Round Shield
A dagger with black crystals attached.
Found in the black valley deep in the trash heap. (blight town-ish?)
Heavier than a normal dagger but these crystals are sharper than a normal blade.
Among those thrown down into the trash heap are ones who search for a way back to the surface. But nobody has ever returned and they are all said to have died in regret.
(shield description is same but says that it's better at slash defense)

Yellow Crystal long sword and shield
Long sword with yellow crystals attached.
Found in the depths of the melted iron fortress. Though corroded and easy to break, it is light with no loss in power.
In order to show his authority, the old king built an iron castle and collected many weapons. But that glory sank into the melted earth due to his arrogance.
(shield description is the same)

Bound Hand Ax and Wood Shield
An ax with a weird appearance.
This was found in the Undead Purgatory. The chain and thorns increase bleeding but decrease slash damage.
This alteration which hides the personality of the weapon wasn't done to merely defeat an enemy. The goal was likely to simply cause more pain.
Special ability: Bleed
(shield is degraded but also causes bleed)

Pygmy's Mace and Wood Shield
A staff with round objects attached. Found in a mansion in An Diel.
It is much heavier than normal but the hard spheres increase blunt damage.
To the east of Drangleig is a mysterious mansion forgotten by time. Something that should be forgotten still lurks there.
(shield is heavier but stronger)

Criminal Staff and Leather Shield
A staff with a dull black something attached.
Found in an old dark hole. Used for magic and dark magic.
In places around Dranglieg are dark holes. There is yet nobody who knows what lies beyond these holes.
Special Ability: Darkness
(shield is same, just takes out part about it being used as a catalyst)

I sincerely hope this is just the equivalent of getting a couple of elemental weapons in DkS, as opposed to unique items.

This does not smell right, anyways.

It smells like some Fat Minister got its grubby, greedy hands on the game.

Welcome to the world of the triple A gaming industry! Pre-order and day one dlc is now pretty much mandatory in the high-end publisher marketing drive. Not defending it of course, it's a cheap way of boosting pre-ordering to keep the shareholders and partners content - but there it is.

Also they may remove it or make it free for all as an update if the fanbase cares enough to make a sh*tstorm about it. Creative Assembly did so for Rome 2 TW recently after the fans complained about the pre-order and on disc dlc.

North and South America will likely get:

Candle of Consternation.  
This small candle seems to endlessly recycle itself and while it appears to guide the way, it's actual utility is nonexistent.  It is rumored that a Candle of Consternation v. 1.02 is out there somewhere that would lead to increased usefulness

If this gets confirmed then I'll be avoiding the game by default unless I want look like a massive hypocrite.

Thats very sad, if there is day one dlc i will still get the game but i won't ever touch that dlc
