Two Handing a Weapon?
How does this exactly work? I couldn't find an article on it on the wiki. Or just tell me how much I need for the Murakumo

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
Think it's your strength + 50% of your strength or something. So if you had 10 strength and you needed 16 to use the weapon one handed, you still wouldn't have enough strength to two hand it with 10.
(I believe)

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
For demon's souls the requirement was half the strength required (ie 1 hand = strength, 2 hands = 2x strength).
I always thought it was the same for dark souls. I thought I verified this as well, but I could be wrong. I'm definitely going to check it out tonight.

Don't think it is, took me 19 Str to wield the Murakamo that requires 28.

Next you will be asking where you can use your two speckled elemental rings you got from siegmeyer, and your fancy new armour from soliare is there no end to your bloodthirst midgar, is there no end?!

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
I have to say I like this thing, I like the BS animation and it's quick for a GS, decent moveset, killed someone earlier with the jumping lunge attack, not to mention it does 970 damage with CMW.
Hmm maybe Soltaire next...oh wait I already killed him at the Dragon.

Your math seems right.
This is what I use to calculate it. Let me know if I am wrong.
Base Strength Stat: 19
+ Half Your Base Stat: 9.5
= 28.5
or
BaseStrength + (BaseStrength/2) = 2 Handed Stat

Couple people I invaded, I meant it does 970 damage on the status menu, it's going to be lower depending on their armor and all that but still pretty awesome. The jumping attack is slow but that guy was just backing away with a tiny amount of health left in a straight line, I just had to try . The regular attacks are quick enough though.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
What are you using midgar? Mura +15 or an elemental?
I really love the moveset of the murakumo, I have a character dressed to look like shiva who uses that an an scrimitar in his off hand. It's pretty fun. That, and the sword look damn cool with a fire buff.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
Like Baal said, you need 2/3 of the required Str to be able to wield it 2-handed. So if your Str x 1.5 > or = Required Str, then you can wield it 2-handed.

Cool, thanks for the info, and yeah it's +15. And yeah some guy parried me earlier, messed me up XD, plus I like that it can stunlock too which is nice considering my low poise gets me stunlocked so damn often, time for some payback. I really dislike stunlock in this game though, leaves you completely defenseless for 3-4 hits.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
My take: For 2 handing, your strength is multiplied by 1.5 so you don't need to meet the str requirements to use weapons. Example: you'll need 10 str to 2 hand a weapon that requires 15 str. Most of you are right on that bit.
Something you guys might want to know: The reason that 2 handing increases your str instead of lowering the requirement? This applies to the str bonus too. So 2 handing gives a larger str bonus to your damage rating, on top of the original 2handing bonus, explaining all the 2 handing BKGAs out there. Just try looking at your weapon stats 1 handed and 2 handed to confirm.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
Actually when you two hand a weapon it just does more damage. My many Chaos weapons can account for this.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
Also, if you have the minimum Str to 2H it, it will have the same AR as 1H at full str. For heavy weapons this is important. I only have 28 Str for my GC. Since, I almost always 2H it, it has the same AR as 40 str 1H, but saves me 12 points to put elsewhere.

Re: Two Handing a Weapon?
Mine does, for sure. The point I was making was for weapons that require higher strength, it is better to keep your strength low and 2H them. It can save you a lot of points. So, for a strength cap at 40, keep your Str at 27 (unless you can't 2H at 27). At 27, 2H will have the same AR as 2H 40. You can put those 13 points into other areas.JY4answer wrote:Don't both of those support my observation...?

That would apply nicely to elemental versions, I suppose, but for A-scaling weapons like the Manserpent GS high str can give a pretty huge bonus, and 2 handing it multiplying the results.
