I'm pretty sure i've killed all of the mimic's on the wiki page, considering I have all of their items in my inventory, yet no symbol of avarice. is the info on the wiki incorrect or what? thanks.

The wiki is correct. It always drops for the last mimic (or you can use lloyd's trick but it's too late now).
I don't think the dlc mimic counts into the equation... it will always drop the key. (confimation needed)
IIRC:
1 mimic in sens
3 in anor lando
3 in dukes archives (might be wrong on this one)

You should get one from the last mimic killed with an updated game.
1. Sen's Fortress: before elevator
2. Anor Londo: in beginning by Smough's statue
3. Anor Londo: after slv knight archers fog gate, go up stairs
4. Anor Londo: same area as #3
5. Anor Londo: past illusionary fireplace in rm near stairway
6. Duke's Archives: guarded by some crystal guys in the maze of levels
If you really got them all and still don't have the item, bummer. I'd recommend getting the gold serpent ring and having 10 soft humanity on you for the max 410 item discovery instead anyways.

Soul grinding isn't benefited by item discovery, he'd need the Silver Serpent Ring and the Symbol for max benefit.

unfortunately it looks like i have in fact killed every mimic. hmm, well i guess i'll use the lloyd's method next playthrough, must be a bug or something. I went to every location in the game and there was no mimics.

I don't think any mimic ever has a 100% drop rate for the Symbol. That said, 10 humanity, being human and having a gold serpent ring equipped is your best (and only, really) bet.

ah unfortunately I'm on Xbox 360. I have the ring, just missing out on a lot of extra souls without the symbol.

I hate that item. Many times I have had 10 or more soft hum and the ring. I have NEVER gotten the symbol of avarice.
