Could I have played this ANY worse?

Post by Back Lot Basher on Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:45 pm

I was trying to get the titanite slab from Siegmeyer on my SL 1 playthrough.  Was all ready to start killing most of the creatures in the pit in L.I., when I realized I had no lock-on from that distance (my intention was to use my crossbow from the ledge).  Since I couldn't use a bow, I decided to start huffing firebombs (completely forgetting where I was).  The animation made me fall into the pit.

Now, at that point, I probably should have just let myself die, but oh no, I had the bright idea that I would take most of them out, then go back up to see Siggy before jumping back down for whichever one I left standing.  So there I was, swarmed by four of them, and a fifth that wanders in to see what's up.

At level 1, I realized quickly I was kind of over my head.  I panicked and started backpeddling into the next corridor.  Only too late did I realize that the beasties were following me right...into...the...open...pits.  One by one, they all plunged to their death.  Siggy gave me the ring. /facepalm

You could have killed Seigmeyer and then died to the monsters.

Even more so, you could have discovered a new glitch that would have deleted your save file and forever corrupted your game.

You could have killed all of the monsters but one, jumped down with bronion, killed the last of them, and then while talking to him realized your game is unpatched and he dies from the poison.

onion bro could have glitched and jumped down into one of the beasties mouths, seriously if you land on them they do a special eating attack that shreds your armor durability

A freak glitch could've occurred where either you or Sieg clips through the floor and disappears into the Abyss... FOREVER.

First time i tried the siegmeyer quest, i'd gotten it into my head that he had to have less than 50% health after the fight for the slab, so bowed most of the chaos eaters, talked to ziggy, he jumped down, me after him and i let him get hit by the eater. Eater picked him up, ate him and that was that. got the ring at least.

The only time I was remotely happy about getting the ring was this Dragonbro build I had made, and since I had no armor, it was nice getting a bit of a buffer against damage.  Then I realized just how little difference it made.  Best defense is:  don't get hit.

I got it on my most recent NG because 1. I wanted to be the nice guy and have him live and 2. I wanna try to get all the items eventually, and I got plenty of slabs for what I wanted anyway. I'll be more of a massive jerk in subsequent playthroughs (aka killing everyone mercilessly).
