This was the most intense dark souls has been since my first playthrough. But on the plus side, I left the tomb of giants with the silver serpent ring, the effigy shield, the lucerne, the great scythe, the skull lantern and the large divine ember, as well as the rite of kindling, a few consumable souls and the mask of the mother. I would seriously recommend doing this off the start of the game, as while the risk is high and the trek is dangerous (and pretty god damn hard), the rewards are great. Praise the sun!

Oh. My. Feck. This was probably one of the most insanely difficult and frustrating things I have ever done. The catacombs wasnt too bad since I was using the astora straight sword, and ran like fuuck for every lever. I also got luck with paladin leeroy since he acted as a meatshield for the bonewheels. But the tomb of giants? Just no. I was completely helpless against the giant skeletons and had to run like mad for the second bonfire, unable to see 2 feet in front of me. I grabbed all the items in the tomb of giants and went to leave. That is when I realised something: its a long *** way from the first tomb of giants bonfire to the second catacombs one. After about 10 attempts I got rediculously lucky with the bone wheels and made a mad dash for the second bonfire. From there I was able to work up through the catacombs, to firelink.

I do Catacombs first to get Kindling, but I only tried ToG once. That was plenty. I'm scared of the dark now. Besides, when I did it I got to the yellow fog door and suddenly realized I had no freaking clue how to back out. That was a BRUTAL half-hour or so. I ended up going to Youtube and cheated my way out, trembling and sobbing the whole time.

Yes, the hardest experience I've had in DkS was climbing back out of the Tomb without being able to warp. I would go down there early to try to rescue Reah early for my faith builds. There's that spot on the way back up where a giant skeleton guards a ladder, and there are two other skeletons off to the right firing those huge arrows. I think this spot is worse than the two silver Londo archers, because there is no cover and if you target one of the skeletons the other two will get you. You can't even reach the archers from there anyway, so basically you have to fight a giant skeleton on a tiny path with a fatal drop next to you, while taking numerous giant arrows in the back. Plus the giant skeleton usually blocks the ladder so you can't run around him. Even if you manage to around him and start climbing, the arrows can kill you quickly as the ladder is pretty long.
Sometimes it is honestly easier to just not activate any of the ToG bonfires. You can either do targeted speed/suicide runs repeatedly from the catacombs, aiming to get specific items each time, or somehow manage to clean the place out in one run then homeward bone back up to the catacombs. It's honestly easier in the long run than trying to hoof it back out.

1 Get large divine ember and one white titanite chunk from tomb of giants.
2 Kill moonlight butterfly and get regular divine ember.
Oh wait lol that should read +6 haha Im a dumbass.
3 Go to blightown and farm leeches for green titanite. If they drop it, its always in groups of 5 so you don't have to farm very long.
4 ???????

That is indeed how you get to +10 Divine. You specifically said +11, and now you must tell us all how that is possible

You should read how to be a Gravelord in the archives. Don't have to be a Gravelord to use it, but it helps beginners at the very start to go threw.
The key is to get some arrows for Necromancers and a good club, or a fast killing blade. You don't have to get a lot of stuff. It is hard, but it becomes normal once you go there time to time.

Me too. I did a low level run as I wanted to got down there to get Reah out to get my wog on earlier. The bonewheels killed me many times (I would run from where the blacksmith was) and the large skellies would pretty much one shot me. I was going nuts - I finally made it down there only to realise that because I hadn't killed the capra or rung any bells yet, Reah wasn't there and I had to fight my way again for nothing. I think they heard my screams many streets away!!!

I used to start my speed run in the catacombs for the Gravelord Sword, then go down and kill Pinwheel, homeward bone back to Firelink.
What you could do is grab the ring of sacrifice from firelink before you go down to the catacombs. Get all the items you want and go for the large divine ember last, and equip the ring before you go for it. Then you can die, you'll have all the items you wanted, and you're back at firelink without having to run back up! Of course it only works if you don't die... Otherwise you have to run all the way back down again if you missed an item--but the way down is easier than the way up anyways!
(If you're doing a speed run, you should save that ring of sacrifice for Seath though! )
