Some of them certainly do, as you get to take an active role as a living person within these worlds and make decisions that actually have impact. I've always liked Final Fantasy for that reason also. X especially. Spira had incredible depth.

I would argue that Square really had a hand in making it the norm too. I'd be hard pressed to think of a game that just through playing immersed me in the world to such a high degree and completely naturally, that came out before Square started doing it in Final Fantasy, and other not as well known series.

You can be either way (or both) in dragon age 1, but the characters actually have preferences (you know, like actual people) so sometimes it just isn't happening.

I have no problem with other lifestyles, I do have a problem with cramming them down my throat and/or slacking off on creating actual characters to be "accepting"
It's a step in the right direction though. Personally, I think it would be "slacking off" to not have any choice whatsoever.

I think the other problem when games and t.v. try to deal with other orientations is that they make the fact they are *** (why in the world is this censored?) or bi a plot point. That's not only the reason why people will feel it's being forced onto them, but it's unnatural storytelling.

This is making me want to revisit DA:O. I've only ever done 1 playthrough. I'd been thinking about doing a Dark Souls revisit after I finish up Dragon's Dogam, but I think I might do DA:O instead. Maybe I'll follow it up with trying to get through DA2 again.

but there is choice in dragon age 1. lelianna is more conservative but will go either way, zevran is really open (and crude) and will go either way, morrigan and alistair are straight, with morrigan being open and alistar being more conservtive.

in mass effect 1 (which is early 360 era, so its like 6 years old now) liara will go either way, in 2/3 there is the not-so-subtle "race/gender is irrelivant" thing with the various alien romances of both your character and random characters in game.

In da 2, everyone is just bi. I'd call that slacking off.

you liked origins better, becaues origins is better, in every way. (obviously my opinion)

I liked the fact that Bioware actually made an approach with LGBT relationships in the first game, although I never bothered romancing Lelianna. I also liked that I could do it in the second game with a few more characters too. Although my issue is Pirate's issue, everyone seems to be Bisexual. I don't have a problem with bisexuals myself but there is still such a thing as a straight man and a straight woman in the game.

The way I would've like to see it is if there were a few more characters of different variations to romance.

Either way having a lesbian relationship with a cute elf doesn't excuse the fact that I could barely go outside the city throughout the whole game.

I really liked Morrigan but I ultimately went for the relationship with Lelianna because in order to maintain Morrigan's affection you had to continuously make immoral decisions. At least as far as I'm concerned. She favored all the decisions that required you to be entirely self-serving, whereas Lel liked the choices that were for the good of many, which is generally how I play these games. At least on my first playthrough. Well to be fair I started out in a relationship with Morrigan then left her for Lel.

Also I think Alistair is bisexual in Origins not straight.

I couldn't even get into a relationship with Morrigan so Leliana was my only choice for a romance option. Now in the second game I messed around with everything and ended up starting a relationship with both the elf and the pirate. I still don't remember how I did that though.

I'm pretty sure Alistar is straight straight in the first one. You can flirt with him a little bit as a male character but I don't think it goes anywhere. Personally I was constantly flirting with Wynne, but she just flirts back a little then brushes you off. I love Wynne.

i really like morrigan, but I like me and morrigan has a personality very similar to mine, though our outlooks are very (very) different.

She only whines at you in redcliff, after that she pretty much stops, except for the once in the mage tower.

No, he's not. I promise. I'm sure there's a mod, but alistair is straight. I've done literally everything there is to do in that game.

Wynn is the coolest character in that game.

Yeah she's my favorite by a long shot. I like Alistar a lot too as far as personality and conversations go too. I really enjoyed the dynamic created by Dog also. All the characters conversations with Dog when you're out running around are awesome. Morrigan's dynamic with Dog is great.

Ah ok, it's been a few months since I've played it last and I have a terrible memory. I've never really cared for Morrigan all too much, mostly because I ended up doing everything she told me to do in my first playthrough and ended up not liking the outcome.

Wynn on the other hand, I enjoyed her company on my second unfinished playthrough.

I don't like allistair. he's the worst tank ever, and he spends like 2/3rds of his conversation time whining. i really just want to punch him most of the time.

He was the only character that made me laugh regularly. I just never saw the appeal of Oghren. It could be that, because of my past, I fail to see the humor in alcoholism, but he just did nothing for me in that department and Alistar did. I can see where he could be found to be unappealing for the same reasons though.

i didn't find oghren funny either. morrigan telling off alistair for whining was most of my humor.

sten was the best tank, despite just the 1 specialisation, because you get him so early that you can build him properly.

The meteor shower is definitely visible again tonight. I was just out watching it off my back porch. The NASA site says the best times are between 11pm and sunrise. Go check it out if you get the chance, are in the northern hemisphere, and it's a clear night where you are. Really cool stuff.
