Your name = a color? Probably

So in regard to forum text colors....


Many of you likely know can you use the text color option with either the hex (I think it's hex) coding (ex. 00aa33) or it will recognize some words. So earlier today I decided to see if there was an official color of "Skarekrow" so I entered that into the field and....


Lo and behold! This is the official color of the word "Skarekrow!" As this and the next sentence show, it is a different shade than the forum's default "green." Also, adding the "13" leads to an invalid code but no one uses that anyway.

Also, to check to make sure that there isn't another default, here's the official colors for:

My abbreviated first name
My full first name
My middle name
My wife's first name
My daughter's name

If you want to find out your color all you have to do is type [co lor=thenameyouwannacheck] type something here...whatever floats your boat then[/color]

*note, I added a space in the word "color" in the first set of brackets so the forum didn't think I was trying to color my text "thenameyouwannacheck" so make sure you don't add that space. For the record, "thenameyouwannacheck" shows up as this right here

I was pretty amped up to see that my forum name seems to be identical to my abbreviated first name and my full first name

Every time I used the word "my" I changed the color to the corresponding name. On my screen I can't tell the difference. For a comparison of how weird that seems to me the three words are:

Apparently I'm dark blue. Too bad, rather unexciting!

Real name is the same color. Hmph

That's awesome....I like when there's happy coincidences. I gotta say I love this idea and it's hard to hold back from a long list of NPC, location and item names so I'll just do a few more here to hold me over

I would imagine that, if there's not a corresponding color the forum recognizes (for instance, "red" is recognized as red) that the word you use is converted similar to the hex (is it hex, someone tell me if I'm wrong) coding. So using a similar word would likely have a similar translation into the coding.

and Sub-Par Color

Glad I got it right. All I knew was the game genie on the NES took advantage of hex coding and used the 0-F concept of increasing variables.....
That could be a frustrating and very fun April Fool's game

Nybbles, it's interesting that green is coming up a lot but a LOT of different shades.

Yeah. I thought it was crazy getting three shades of gray/almost black out of 5 and the other two are similar shades to each other, with Artorias the more Abyss like purple with Ciaran kinda "following" his lead. That's it.....I'm calling it....from named all their characters based on hex coding so we'd never know the real deal.

Random words would be awesome for sure....it'd be near impossible without a hint though. Like this year with the ads or something.
